ADL Warns of BailScam-Linked Hate on Web

The U.S. financial crisis has led to increased anti-Jewish invective on the Internet, the Anti-Defamation League warned.

"Hundreds of anti-Semitic posts regarding Lehman Brothers and other institutions affected by the subprime mortgage crisis have been submitted to discussion boards dealing with finance, with many more arriving by the minute," the ADL said in a statement Thursday. "The messages rail against Jews in general, with some charging that Jews control the government and finance as part of a 'Jew world order' and therefore are to blame for the economic turmoil."

The ADL commended Internet service providers and discussion moderators for responding quickly to anti-Semitic posts, but noted that the frequency with which such posts appear makes policing Web sites difficult.

"We know from modern history that whenever there is a downturn in the global economy, there will be an upturn in the level of anti-Semitism and bigotry, and that is what we are seeing now," said the ADL's national director, Abraham Foxman.

Lehman Insiders Sought Millions
As Company Collapsed

WASHINGTON - The now-bankrupt investment bank Lehman Brothers arranged millions in bonuses for fired executives as it pleaded for a federal lifeline, lawmakers learned Monday, as Congress began investigating what went so wrong on Wall Street to prompt a $700 billion government bailout.

Richard S. Fuld Jr., the Lehman chief executive who sat for a two-hour-plus grilling before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee as the panel combed through his pay history, management practices and financial strategies.

"You made all this money by taking risks with other people's money," Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., the panel's chairman, said. "The system worked for you, but it didn't seem to work for the rest of the country and the taxpayers, who now have to pay $700 billion to bail out our economy."

He said a compensation system that he estimated paid him about $350 million between 2000 and 2007 even as the company headed for disaster was appropriate. "We had a compensation committee that spent a tremendous amount of time making sure that the interests of the executives and the employees were aligned with shareholders," Fuld said.

The panel unearthed internal documents showing that on Sept. 11, Lehman planned to approve "special payments" worth $18.2 million for two executives who were terminated involuntarily, and another $5 million for one who was leaving on his own.

That was just four days before the government let Lehman go under, touching off a cascading series of financial shocks and failures that put Washington on track for the multibillion-dollar rescue the Bush administration urgently requested from Congress at the end of that week.

A suggestion came from executives at Lehman's money management subsidiary, Neuberger Berman, who also were recommending that Lehman spin off its business to insulate its employees -- and their bonuses -- from Lehman's sagging stock price and from "management mistakes."

George H. Walker, President Bush's cousin and a member of Lehman's executive committee, breezily shot down the ideas, according to the e-mails. "Sorry team. I am not sure what's in the water at" Neuberger Berman, Walker wrote to the rest of the executive committee.

The far right British National party is trying to shed its antisemitic past as part of a drive to pick up votes among London's Jewish community. The party, which could get its first seat on the London assembly if voter turnout is low next month, is campaigning in Jewish areas across the capital and attempting to play on what it sees as historical enmity between the Jewish and Muslim communities.

In one leaflet, handed out in north London last weekend, the party's only Jewish councillor, Pat Richardson, is quoted along with a picture of young Muslims holding a placard reading: "Butcher those who mock Islam."

"I'm in the BNP because no one else speaks out against the Islamification of our country," said Richardson. "Being Jewish only adds to my concern about this aggressive creed that also threatens our secular values and Christian tradition."

Ruth Smeed, of the Board of Deputies, said: "The BNP website is now one of the most Zionist on the web - it goes further than any of the mainstream parties in its support of Israel and at the same time demonises Islam and the Muslim world. They are actively campaigning in Jewish communities, particularly in London, making a lot of their one Jewish councillor, their support of Israel and attacking Muslims. A panic atmosphere is intentionally being nurtured to get bill passed!

Congressman Brad Sherman of California's 27th congressional district told the House in a speech yesterday evening that he personally knew of several Congressional representatives who have said they were threatened with the prospect of all out martial law should they vote in opposition to the $700 billion bailout. Sherman essentially intimated that powerful forces who want the bill passed have attempted to blackmail elected representatives.

"The only way they can pass this bill is by creating and sustaining a panic atmosphere. That atmosphere is not justified." Sherman stated. "Many of us were told in private conversations that if we voted against this bill on Monday that the sky would fall, the market would drop two or three thousand points the first day, another couple of thousand the second day, and a few members were even told that there would be martial law in America if we voted no."

"That's what I call fear mongering. Unjustified. Proven wrong. We've got a week, we've got two weeks to write a good bill. The only way to pass a bad bill is to keep the panic pressure on."

Iran Students Unveil Book
Mocking Holocaust

Iranians chanted "Death to Israel" as a group of Islamist students unveiled a book mocking the Holocaust in an annual parade on Friday to show solidarity with the Palestinians. Featuring dozens of cartoons and sarcastic commentary, the book "Holocaust" was published by members of the Islamist Basij militia.

The cover shows a Jew with a crooked nose and dressed in traditional garb drawing outlines of dead bodies on the ground. Inside, bearded Jews are shown leaving and re-entering a gas chamber with a counter that reads the number 5,999,999. Another depicts Jewish prisoners entering a furnace in a Nazi extermination camp and leaving as gun-wielding terrorists from the other side. Yet another shows a patient covered in an Israeli flag and on life support breathing Zyklon-B, the poisonous gas used in the extermination chambers.

The commentary inside the book includes anti-Semitic stereotypes and revisionist arguments, casting doubt on the massacre of Jews and mocking Holocaust survivors who claimed reparations after World War II.

One comment in a question-and-answer format reads: "How did the Germans emit gas into chambers while there were no holes on the ceiling?" Answer: "Shut up, you criminal anti-Semite. How dare you ask this question?"

The protest follows a fresh verbal attack on Israel by Ahmadinejad. In an address to the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, he said "the Zionist regime is on a definite slope to collapse and there is no way for it to get out of the cesspool created by itself and its supporters."

(IsraelNN) MK Eliyahu Gabbai sent a letter Monday to Minister of Absorption Eli Aflalo, Chairman of the Absorption Committee Michael Nudelman and Chairman of the Jewish Agency Ze'ev Bielski asking to convene a discussion of the absorption committee to prepare for a possible wave of Olim (immigrants to Israel) from the United States because of the global financial crisis.

MK Gabbai warned that the global crisis strengthens the need to stress Aliyah as a central issue, and to prepare accordingly. Gabbai recounted the surge of Aliyah from Argentina during tough economic times there in the end of the 90s. He added that Israel is currently seeing heavier Aliyah from France, where, he said, Jews are experiencing the harshest anti-Semitism since the Second World War. MK Gabbai hopes that these conditions are likely to embolden Jews to draw clear conclusions and consider Aliyah. He wants the Jewish State to be ready to receive them well.

Mesa police arrested a mentally retarded mestizo female and accused her of murdering her mentally retarded White husband, who was found fatally stabbed with a Jack Davenport® automatic knife (switchblade) inside an apartment complex on Thursday.

The 4'7" 208 pound retard Gloria Munguia, 26, was accused of one count of second-degree murder in the slaying of Albert Vest, 28.

Vest's body was discovered after Munguia arrived home shortly after 3:30 p.m. and opened the door to let two maintenance workers inside the apartment so they could get a gander at the very dead Vest on the 400 block of W. University Drive. The workers had knocked on the door earlier, but Munguia didn't answer because there was no stiff for show & tell yet.

Paramedics pronounced Vest dead at the scene.

His body showed signs of trauma, said Detective Steve Berry of Mesa Police.

Berry said he does not know if the couple had been in an argument prior to the slaying, but Juan Martinez, who lives two doors from Vest's apartment, said police responded to a domestic dispute at least once before.

Martinez, who has lived in at the four-unit complex for three months, said Vest's death came as a surprise, being that the neighborhood is typically quiet - aside from a nearby loud stereo playing the Ross Bagdasarian 1958 hit The Witch Doctor Song constantly.

"He helped me move in my shit," Martinez said of Vest. "I never have had any problems with them motherfuckers."

At Vest's apartment, black powder stands out against the white front and back doors, where investigators lifted fingerprints from the doors. Thursday evening yellow police tape roped off much of the area near W. University Drive and N. Vineyard.

At apartments to the north, the investigation concerned Peggy Munoz, a grandmother of thirty four who would see Vest and his family during walks through the neighborhood with her grandchildren.

"I remember seeing that White man out here with his family," Munoz said. "I would see the two out there sitting in a real big play-pen and always eating some of those store-bought hard boiled year-round Easter eggs. They seemed like a really nice little all American family of the future."

Although Munoz has only lived in the neighborhood less than a month, she said she felt safe and that community was relatively quiet with the exceptions of a few stabbings and break-ins.

"It scares me. I will keep my doors locked," Munoz said.

Holohoax Denier Nabbed in UK

An Australian man was arrested at London's Heathrow airport on Wednesday, on an EU warrant issued by Germany, Israel Radio reported. Gerald Frederick Toben, 64, is wanted by German authorities for writings he allegedly published on the internet. He will appear before the City of Westminster Magistrate's Court in London later in the day, where authorities will request he be extradited to Germany.

The retired teacher set up the Adelaide Institute in 1994, and was imprisoned in Germany for seven months for inciting racism. Toben uses a model of the Auschwitz concentration and death camp in lectures to contend that it was too small to kill large numbers. More than 1 million people are estimated to have been killed there.

In a recent speech in Iran, he claimed that any evidence of Nazi gas chambers were "the products of a feverish pathological mind filled with pure hatred, mostly directed against Germans and anything German ... the product of an appalling state of ignorance of natural and chemical processes".

Your computer man recommends AVG. I visited their website and although they have a "free" download all the bells and whistles are for the purchased version. It's kind of like Microsoft's Vista. If you have the home versions you still have the full version on your machine your activation DEPENDS on what YOU BUY. I currently have NO virus protection. I use Trend Micro's free scan about twice a month and that seems fine. Does "computer man" have any suggestions for this?

Russian Revenge: 'Torture chamber' found in Moscow

Moscow police investigating an alleged abduction have found what appears to be a torture chamber in a basement in an upmarket area of the Russian capital. A cage and electric shock devices were found in the basement of a large house, Russia's Kommersant newspaper reported.

Police were led to the basement by a man who says he was tortured there. The man, from southern Russia, was found in the street handcuffed and wearing only his underwear after he managed to escape, media reports say.

Magomed Khamkhoyev, a 35-year-old Ingush man, told police he had been kidnapped and tortured in the basement of the cottage in Serebryanny Bor, according to Kommersant.

Abductions are believed to have been carried out as a revenge for the Beslan school seizure in North Ossetia in 2004, in which more than 330 people died, many of them children. Some of the pro-Chechen attackers were ethnic Ingush.

Here's the latest intel on the ground. Some of it is speculative on the part of my source and other parts confirmed:

1) The military units which have been repatriated for marshal law training to the continental US are currently being trained for rapid deployment to "trouble spots" within CONUS. Barring a nuclear exchange these are very definitely martial law units. They don't have to be everywhere at once. All they have to do is massively crush any uprising, and the media will make certain everyone gets the message.

2) Bush is not going to cancel the elections. Very likely to occur is the murder of Obama if he wins, or otherwise an immediate attack on Iran. Either way, the speech will begin with, "My fellow Americans, during this period of great danger to our Republic we must maintain strong leadership to protect our freedom." The alphabet agencies will neutralize any individual dissidents. Any uprisings will have to deal with 1/3 ID and 2/7 ACR. (That's right and it is confirmed that we have both 1st battalion, 3rd infantry division which has been repatriated and which the media has told us about and ALSO the 2nd battalion, 7th armored cavalry brigade which has been repatriated. ... 3) These units are also being trained to respond to a nuclear, biological, or chemical disaster as a cover for the imposition of marshal law which will probably occur within the year.

Middle School Teacher Suspended for 'Obama Frat' Spat

A middle school teacher in Missouri was suspended Monday for putting a video on YouTube of his students chanting lines from Barack Obama speeches and wearing military fatigues.

The video, called "Obama Youth -- Junior Fraternity Regiment," was posted by a YouTube user named "keepitwildtv" on Oct. 2. The school learned the video was on the Internet and took action against the teacher Monday morning.

In the video, eighth- and ninth-graders wearing military camouflage pants and navy t-shirts chant and perform a routine in the style of a step show, a dance popular among African-American fraternities at universities.

She said she was aware of the video, and that many of the school's activities are recorded, but that the teacher had been warned in a letter not to put it on the Internet. If he did, she said, he should seek legal counsel.

I've been exposed to the best music -- everything from "Big John" by Jimmy Dean to "Confederate Railroad" and I think it's a great exposure to country music. Whether you want to call it "white" or not, your music generally represents a quality we don't see around here. And my question is, what was the song that you played at the beginning of 10/2/B? It was a real glow, gently song that felt like a dry, prairie wind talkin' about "circling wagons". That might have been James McMurty, but I only know him from the "cigarette boat/fisherman" song.

If you want, I'll send you in some Bob Seeger with this month's dues. I have "Like a Rock" (1986) and his "Best of" CD from the '70s and '80s. You might already have those, but good music likes to circulate. I can even hook you up with some "Scott H. Biram", the shit-kickingest, low-downedest blues/country man who's ever scorched fire from ragged vocal chords and "waited for his check from the devil to clear". He's the kind of lone drifter who'd drive a screwdriver through your head during "The Great Depression". arrested for child porn

BOISE - An Idaho Department of Correction subcontractor is in jail, and prosecutors say he downloaded child pornography at a local hotel.

Dale Gilbert is charged with nine counts of possession of child pornography. Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Shelley Armstrong said Gilbert was arrested after another patron at the Extended Stay Hotel on Vista discovered the pornography over the hotel's wi-fi network.

The witness was logged into iTunes on his computer and noticed another computer in the "shared" folder. He clicked on it and discovered movie files that indicated the presence of child pornography.

"Police were able to pinpoint the room it was coming from, obtain a search warrant and actually seize the materials," Armstrong said.

Mexican police find 9 bodies in Tijuana

TIJUANA, Mexico -- Police have found nine more bodies dumped around the Mexican border city of Tijuana, where nearly 50 people have been killed in a week of violence related to the drug trade. Municipal police found five of the bodies Saturday between two small shopping centers in the eastern part of the city. They had been beaten and had their hands bound.

The bodies of two beheaded men were found wrapped in blankets on a road elsewhere in the city, according to the Baja California state Attorney General's Office. The heads were in black plastic bags nearby. A piece of cardboard left by the bodies read: "These are the bricklayer's people." On Monday, a message found with 12 bodies next to a Tijuana elementary school threatened "all of those who are with 'The Engineer'."

State prosecutor Rommel Moreno has blamed the violence on warring leaders within the Arellano Felix drug gang. More than 400 people have been killed in drug-related violence in the city across from San Diego this year, including at least 49 this week. On Friday night, two men were found shot to death in the same empty lot near the elementary school where the 12 bodies were found Monday.

Execution-style killings, beheadings and shootouts have soared across Mexico since the army and federal police intensified their fight against the drug trade nearly two years ago. In the southern city of Oaxaca, four banners purportedly signed by the Gulf Cartel blamed another drug gang, La Familia, for a Sept. 15 grenade attack that killed eight people during Independence Day celebrations in another Mexican state capital, Morelia.

WASHINGTON: Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney claims the Department of Defense executed 5,000 prisoners with one bullet to the head and then dumped their bodies in a Louisiana swamp during Hurricane Katrina.

At a news conference in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, McKinney claimed the Pentagon authorized the execution of the prisoners with one bullet to the head three years ago and then dumped their bodies in a Louisiana swamp.

McKinney said she heard the story from the mother of a National Guard soldier who said her son was assigned to help dispose of the bodies. "And these were mostly males and her son was afraid to talk because he had signed a silence agreement," McKinney told the crowd. "So he only complained to his mother. But the data was entered into a Pentagon computer."

"I suspect that these are prisoners. ... So this investigation of the whole prison industrial complex is extremely important and it should not end with just a question of the nature of prisons in our country," she said to a captivated audience.

A member of the House for 12 years until 2007, McKinney is no stranger to controversy. Shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, she suggested that President Bush knew about the plot in advance but failed to warn Americans because of his father's business interests. Some political analysts say that statement contributed to her defeat in 2002.

After McKinney was re-elected in 2004, she tried to impeach Bush, Vice President Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on charges that they lied and manipulated intelligence to justify the war in Iraq.

MOGADISHU (AFP) -- Somali pirates holding a Ukrainian ship carrying tanks and military hardware Thursday maintained their demand for a 20-million-dollar ransom as a blockade around them tightened.

As warships from the United States and other navies kept close watch on the MV Faina off Somalia's Indian Ocean coast, the pirates insisted on being paid before releasing the cargo and the 21-member crew.

"We are negotiating with the company that owns the vessel. The discussions are headed towards a positive end, but nothing has been finalised," the pirates' spokesman Sugule Ali told AFP. "We are demanding 20 million dollars and that figure still stands."

"If they do not get the money they are demanding, we call on them to either burn down the ship and its arms or sink it," Sheikh Mukhtar Robow, a spokesman for the hardline Shabab movement, told AFP in an interview.

"It is a crime to take commercial ships but hijacking vessels that carry arms for the enemy of Allah is a different matter," added Robow, whose movement nearly stamped out piracy when it controlled southern Somalia in 2006.

The US Navy has vowed to prevent the pirates from offloading the arms. But Robow said his movement would not mind getting hold of them in a bid to boost its campaign against troops from Somalia, Ethiopia and the African Union in Mogadishu.

The freighter contains 33 T-72M1 and T72-M1K battle tanks, six anti-aircraft defence systems, 150 RPG-7 grenade-launchers, six missile-launchers and 14,000 rounds of 125 mm ammunition.

The number of pirates currently operating off the coast of Somalia is believed to be upward of a thousand. Most of them are former coastguards.

FBI Investigated Evel Knievel

According to FBI documents obtained by The Associated Press, the federal government came close to charging Knievel, who in turn threatened to sue the FBI, for alleging he was connected to a crime syndicate. Neither followed through.

Knievel, immortalized in the Smithsonian Institution as "America's Legendary Daredevil," donned red, white and blue for his death-defying stunts. He had a knack for outrageous yarns and claimed to have been a swindler, a card thief, a safe cracker and a holdup man.

His most well-known run-in with the law was a 1977 attack on movie studio executive Shelly Saltman, whom the daredevil beat with a baseball bat in the parking lot of 20th Century Fox.

Saltman promoted Knievel's infamous attempt to jump Idaho's Snake River Canyon and then wrote a book about the experience, angering Knievel by portraying him as "an alcoholic, a pill addict, an anti-JEW and an immoral person."

Knievel was sentenced to six months in jail and Saltman won a $12.75 million judgment, but never collected. Saltman did not return a phone message recently to discuss the FBI file.

FBI files are available to the public after the death of their subjects and can provide rare glimpses into the private lives of public figures. For example, former President Ford advised the FBI that two of his fellow Warren Commission members doubted the bureau's conclusion that John F. Kennedy was shot from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository in Dallas, according to his file.
