TT...enjoyed your show today, 1/10/07. Excellent radio talk show session and I
believe the host was fair and intelligent.
Having said that, I also believe the host has bought into the current
propaganda of "correct" thinking on the current black and white races
(for example, hosts claim of scientific proof of DNA that different races are
only different due to skin pigment)...and believe if the host decides (or
dares) to dig further, he would find excellent scientific studies that claim
that not only are white and black races different, but inferior! One name that
comes up is Alexander Winchell, L. L. D., but Im sure
there are many others of this current politically incorrect view... Measures of
brain weight, heighten hypothalamus of the brain from Negroes, signs of breadth
of nose and length of arms showing slower evolution or closer to primates, etc.
But the point is, who cares...empirical observation is enough to know there is
a difference...maybe the host and others who think like him should spend some time
in Watts or South Central L.A. or black Africa? I think they would change their
tune pretty fast.
However I think you are successfully getting the message out that the problem
is not necessarily the coloreds, but oligarchs and trans-national corporations
and fascist USA...that we want to be separate from other races, not masters of
them...although perhaps one day there might have to be a reckoning.

I have had enough of how I am supposed to be ashamed of my ancestries for the
slave trade Well I know my history and now lets set the record straight….
The White Slave trade sounds like a colorful theme from eighteenth
century romantic fiction. It sounds like a sensational yet wholly imaginary
peril that an imaginative lady novelist might
throw in the path of her heroine. But the white slave trade was not fiction. It
really did exist, and it was big business from 1530 right through to 1780.
Ship-loads of pirates from the Barbary Coast of North Africa made repeated
raids on the Mediterranean coast of Europe at that time, successfully
capturing, abducting and enslaving huge numbers of white European Christians.
The Muslim slavers captured as many as 1,250,000 Europeans in the
two-and-a-half centuries ending in 1780. This is more than the number of black
African slaves that were transported to America in the same period. The horrors
of the black African slave trade have been given a very high profile by
historians and human rights campaigners in recent decades. A substantial burden
of guilt has been attached, retrospectively, to the white American and white
European societies that were responsible for organizing the mainly
transatlantic black slave trade and these colonial powers have been shunted
further into the moral low ground because of it. But the very similar horrors
of the white European slave trade have until recently been overlooked, partly because
the Barbary Coast slave traders did not keep detailed records, so that the
evidence is harder to find, but mainly because it has not been fashionable – or
politically correct – to condemn the behavior or Muslim countries. It is clear
from the evidence that the Muslim countries of North Africa have a past for
which they too are answerable.
The main organizational centers for the white slave trade were Tripoli , Algiers , Tunis and Morocco . The slaves came
mainly from ships at sea and coastal villages and towns on the opposite side of
the Mediterranean, but the Barbary pirates also sailed along the Atlantic
coast, reaching Britain , Ireland and even Iceland .
The pirates were skilled navigators, latter-day Vikings, who sailed
lateen-rigged xebecs and oared galleys. Mostly they captured ships on the open
sea, because there crews and passengers were out of reach of help. They
nevertheless also regularly raided coastal villages, preferably isolated
villages. They would land on a secluded, unguarded beach at night and creep
through the streets, literally taking people from their beds.
Because they were the closest targets, the coasts of Spain
, France , Italy and Portugal were particularly hard hit by the white
slave trade. Many coastal settlements were just abandoned; the inhabitants fled
inland and founded new villages in safer places. It is why there are so many
picturesque hilltop villages in southern Italy , and
probably why early medieval monasteries in south Wales were often hidden a
little way inland.
The length of the voyage did not put the pirates off the raids on Britain . Villages on the coasts of Devon and Cornwall were
particularly venerable, not just because they were nearer but because the low
population density meant that it would be safer for the pirate captains to risk
landing. A raid on London , Chatham or Portsmouth
would have been reckless. In the 20 years after 1622 7,000 English men, women
and children were abducted by pirates. Towards the end of the seventeenth
century, Samuel Pepys met two slaves who had escaped from North Africa . “To the Fleece tavern to drink and there we spent
till four-a-clock telling stories of Algier and the
manner of life of slaves there; and truly, Captain Mootham
and Mr Dawes ( who have both been slaves there) did
make me full acquainted with their condition there. As how they eat nothing but
bread and water, how they are beat upon the soles of the feet and bellies at
the Liberty of their pardon.”
Some slaves were well treated and regarded as companions by their
masters, but the majority of white slaves were subjected to terrible living
conditions. The local rulers in North Africa , the
pashas, were entitled to keep one-eighth of the captured Christians, who were
often kept in crowded bath-houses and fed on scraps. They were used mainly as a
cheap labor force, doing jobs such as cutting down trees, quarrying, building
or, notoriously, rowing the pirate galleys when they went off in search of more
slaves. Some of the female slaves were selected for the pashas
harem. Boys were forced to convert to Islam, and some were castrated to turn
them into eunuchs (harem minders).
The regime was severe. If a slave did not work hard enough, he might be
beaten on the soles of the feet hundreds of times. If a slave tried to escape,; he was executed by crucifixion, burning or the impalement
on huge iron hooks.
The Muslim pashas and sultans often used European coastline. The most
infamous of these pirate leaders was Murat Rais, a
Dutch sailor who turned to piracy and became a favorite of the sultan of Morocco . Murat Rais was
responsible for carrying one of the few well-documented Barbary pirate raids on
the British Isle, in 1631.
On 20 June, 1631, Murat Rais sailed two
ship-loads of pirates into Baltimore harbor in West Cork ,
and they were pirates straight out of nineteenth century novels, ruthless and
cruel, with beards, turbans and cutlasses. Murat and his pirates set fire to
many houses, cutting the heads off anyone who got in their way. With the
skull-and-crossbones flying from the mast, they set sail again for Africa with
20 men and 89 woman and children on bored. Ironically, virtually none of
captives were Irish; they were offspring of English pirates who had fled to
Ireland from the English West Country to escape justice a couple of decades
earlier.
The Baltimore captives spent nearly two distressing months at sea,
living under appalling conditions, “crammed like capons fattened for sale”.
Only one of the Baltimore villagers ever made it back to the village.
Her name was Joan Broadbrook . She was taken to Algiers and only set free 14 years
later, when the English Government paid a huge ransom for her. A pub in
Baltimore is called the Algiers inn, commemorating the pirate atrocity.
Ransoming slaves like Joan Broadbrook was another
motive for taking them, and Christian communities, Catholic ones in particular,
soon organized slave ransom funds. Raising money to buy back white slaves
became the major European charity. The English authorities were very lax about
the matter, raising an Algerian Duty out of customs tax ostensibly to pay
ransoms, but actually the money was used elsewhere – rather like todays petrol Tax.
The Barbary pirates who took white slaves were organized and employed by
the rulers of Barbary Coast states. Those same rules and other Arab chiefs were
equally deeply implicated in the black slave trade. From the moment when the
Arabs swept into Africa under the banner of Islam way back in the seventh
century, the enslavement of native Africans was under way. Over the next 1,200
years, an estimated 12 to 14 million black Africans were enslaved by Arab
Muslims. This is roughly the same number that the European Christians took
across the Atlantic to work in their colonies in the Americas
. The slave trade was abolished in the British Empire in 1807. Slavery
itself was made illegal throughout the British Empire in 1834 and in America in
1863. It was not abolished in Saudi Arabia until the 1960s, and slavery still
goes on in Sudan and Mauritania . It seems odd that
certain governments, so keen to justify their military interventions overseas
on ethical grounds, have turned a blind eye to this blatant transgression of
human rights.

official attempts to downplay the efforts, US President Bush received a large
dose of lobbying for the release of Jonathan Pollard during his visit to
Israel. Letters from leading rabbis and public figures, newspaper ads, faxes,
rallies and more were part of the intensive campaign to show Bush that no
matter what signals he may receive from Israels Prime
Minister, the Israeli public wants Pollard home immediately. Colorful Full-Page
Ad: 82% Want Him Home! A colorful full-page ad in The Jerusalem Post, read by
Mr. Bush and his staffers in his King David Hotel suite Thursday morning,
blared, "The People of Israel seek Pollards release!" The ad then
notes a Motagim poll finding that 82% say President
Peres and Prime Minister Olmert must ask for Pollards
release during their meetings with Bush. Following an official letter to Bush
asking him to free Pollard and signed by the faction heads of all nine Jewish
parties in the Knesset, the ad concludes, "Dear President, you are our
friend. You hold the key to his freedom. Free Jonathan Pollard now!" In
addition, the King David Hotel was reportedly "flooded" with faxes
from concerned citizens asking Bush to free Pollard. Shas
Leader Defies Olmert Shas
Party chairman Eli Yishai defied a request by Olmert, and, at a special meal with Bush on Thursday
attended by eight leading Cabinet ministers, gave the American leader two
important letters concerning Pollard. One was from Israels
former Chief Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef
promising Bush "blessing and long life" if he frees Pollard. Rabbi Yosefs letter explains the importance of the concept and
religious obligation of "freeing captives" in Jewish tradition, and
the urgency of the Pollard case in particular. The other letter Minister Yishai gave Bush was from Pollards wife Esther, with whom Yishai met earlier this week. The Shas
leader said before the meal that he intended to tell Bush that there is a
connection between Pollards freedom and the American request for Israel to
release Palestinian terrorist prisoners. Yishai
explained to Arutz-7s Hebrew newsmagazine earlier this week, "The U.S.
always asks us to make concessions to the Palestinians - so we can ask for some
of our own... With the US asking us to come towards and make gestures towards
our enemies, it is clear that the US can also make a gesture for us - namely,
Jonathan Pollard." Yishai said on Thursday
evening that he had given the letters to Bush despite Olmerts
request not to do so.

But the trick a German man taught his canine companion was much more sinister…
it learned to do a Nazi salute.
The German Shepherd crossbreed, called Adolf, lifted
its paw up high on command in imitation of the infamous raised-arm greeting
used by Hitler and his cohorts.
The nine-year-old dogs owner, known as Roland T,
boasted brazenly in front of police about the animals trick - even though the
Nazi salute is banned in Germany.
And the 58-year-old former car salesman chalked the name “Adolf” above the door
of his pets kennel in Berlin.
He claimed the dog was born on Hitlers
birthday and he planned to have him put down on the anniversary of the
dictators suicide.
This, he said, was because he could not afford dog food after being fined for
other Nazi-related behavior.
Roland had been handed suspended sentences by courts since 2003 and was said to
be notorious for openly giving Nazi salutes and wearing pro-Hitler T-shirts.
Sick trick: Roland T prompts Adolf to give the Hitler salute
Judges were previously lenient because of a brain injury he suffered in 1995.
But they jailed him for five months over the dog salute. Adolf has now been
taken to an animal shelter, where staff have renamed him Adi.Spokesman
Evamarie Konig said: “We
are retraining him to stop him raising his leg too high.
“He doesnt have anything that would make him interesting
to Right-wing extremists.
“However, we think he will quickly find a new owner because he is so famous.”

JERUSALEM - President Bush had tears in his eyes during an hour-long tour of Israels Holocaust memorial Friday and told Secretary of
State Congoleezza Rice that the U.S. should have
bombed Auschwitz to halt the killing, the memorials chairman said.
Bush emerged from a tour of the Yad Vashem memorial calling it a "sobering reminder"
that evil must be resisted, and praising victims for not losing their faith.
Wearing a yarmulke, Bush placed a red-white-and-blue wreath on a stone slab
that covers ashes of Holocaust victims taken from six extermination camps. He
also lit a torch memorializing the victims.
Bush was visibly moved as he toured the site, said Yad
Vashems chairman, Avner Shalev.
"Twice, I saw tears well up in his eyes," Shalev

AMERICAS "MORAL COMPROMISE"

The way we talk about politics is more important
than any specific political event. Our ideas and
assumptions about power shape the way we wield power.
Those ideas and assumptions are usually found in
stories and myths, which everyone can understand, rather
than in abstract theories. For Americans, the symbols of
World War II are so powerful that they are still invoked
in everyday political debate.
< BR>The quickest way to get yourself branded a thought
criminal is by questioning the rightness or wisdom of
this holy war, on which the legitimacy of the current
American ruling establishment rests. To question the
sanctity of Franklin Roosevelt is, in many peoples
minds, almost like endorsing Adolf Hitler.
Even the "isolationists" who wanted the United
States to stay out of World War II are targets of
opprobrium. The simplistic "lesson of Munich" is that we
must always be prepared to intervene against "evil"
anywhere in the world.
Nevertheless, many thoughtful people are questioning
the myth. The standard account of World War II is already
beginning to fray, in spite of 50 years of ceaseless
government and media propaganda. The real story is not
just tinged with irony, but soaked with it.
The columnist Charles Krauthammer recently
acknowledged the "moral compromise" of World War II: "We
made allia nce with the worlds second-worst tyrant in
order to defeat the first." This is already a significant
modification of the myth. Franklin Roosevelt didnt
regard his alliance with Stalin against Hitler as a
"moral compromise," but as a righteous partnership with a
fellow progressive. Anyone who is familiar with the
official U.S. propaganda of the era knows that Stalin --
"Uncle Joe" -- was portrayed benignly.
Even before the war began, the scale of Stalins
mass murders dwarfed what Hitler would do during the war.
To call Stalin "second-worst" is to trivialize the lives
of his tens of millions of victims. He was incomparably
the worst. The historian Paul Johnson puts the Soviet
death toll at four or five times the number the Nazis
achieved; others put the ratio even higher.
Roosevelt had given the Soviet Union diplomatic
recognition and international legitimacy in 1933, while
it was systematically starving m millions of Ukrainians.
This unparalleled brutality was widely reported, but
Roosevelt chose to ignore it. To suggest that he had no
way of knowing about it, or was innocently naive, is
absurd. Anyone who wanted to know, knew. If there was
no
excuse, later, for not knowing of Hitlers
crimes during
war, there was certainly none for not knowing of Stalins
crimes during peacetime.
It is secondary to argue about whether Alger Hiss
and others were Soviet agents. The point is that
Roosevelt and his associates -- Henry Wallace, Joseph
Davies, Harry Hopkins, and others -- were so sympathetic
to the Soviet Union that dedicated communists would have
felt right at home in the Roosevelt administration.
For all his marginal inaccuracies about individuals,
Joseph McCarthy badly understated the situation as a
whole. But the myth continues to teach us that McCarthy
was a terrifying villain and his communist and
pro-co mmunist targets were victims. In liberal
hagiography, "victims of McCarthyism" who lost government
jobs deserve more pity than victims of communism who lost
their lives.
At the end of the war, the Soviet empire had
expanded its bloody embrace to include ten formerly
Christian countries. A few years later, when the American
ruling class had belatedly recognized the character of
its beloved wartime ally, the United States faced a
Soviet nuclear threat far more menacing than anything
Germany and Japan had wielded.
If, by Mr. Krauthammers logic, the United States
should have allied itself with the second-worst tyrant
against the worst, the United States should have joined
Nazi Germany in the fight against the Soviet Union. But I
suspect he would agree that "isolationism" -- which,
after all, was merely the neutrality Washington and
Jefferson had espoused -- would have been a more
honorable course than that .
An alliance with Hitler would have been an
intolerable "moral compromise." But the alliance with
Stalin was a moral infamy and a strategic disaster. The
proper lesson of World War II is a cautionary tale
against the hasty military intervention toward which we
are constantly urged.

KATHMANDU, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- The United States will accept 10,000
Bhutanese refugees living in Nepal under the first phase of refugee
rehabilitation program, U.S. ambassador to Nepal Nancy J Powell said on
Wednesday, according to local media houses website THT online Thursday.
Powell said this at the inauguration of Overseas Processing Entity (OPE).
Though Powell did not specify when the process will begin, Chief District
Officer (CDO) of Jhapa district Shankar Prasad Koirala said that the United States and Nepal governments
had agreed that the first batch of refugees will leave for the U.S. in March.
Powell said the Untied States will not abandon its efforts to get the refugees
repatriated, adding that under the circumstances, third-country settlement was
the most feasible option.
"They left their homes 17 years ago and are leading displaced lives. If
their repatriation is forced upon Bhutan, they might be uprooted again,"
said Powell.
Koirala said that while the government was
committed to the refugees repatriation, it had also
kept the option of third-country settlement open for those wanting to opt for
it.

Bank of America Corp. said Friday it has agreed to buy Countrywide Financial
for $4 billion in stock, a deal that both rescues the countrys
biggest mortgage lender and expands the financial services empire of the nations largest consumer bank.
The acquisition will make Charlotte-based Bank of America the nations biggest
mortgage lender and loan servicer.
"Countrywide presents a rare opportunity for Bank of America to add what
we believe is the best domestic mortgage platform at an attractive price and to
affirm our position as the nations premier lender to consumers," Bank of
America chief executive Ken Lewis said in a statement.
The buyout come less than five months after Bank of America plugged $2 billion
in Countrywide Financial Corp. during the height of the summers global credit
crisis, and just weeks after Ken Lewis vowed that making a deal in the mortgage
industry would require him "to eat about seven years of my words."

signs of a slowing economy and forecasts for mild weather in the Northeast,
crude oil prices are still hovering about 70 percent higher than year-ago
levels.
The litany of reasons for this rapid run-up in prices has been well publicized,
but the key question is where oil prices will go from here.
Oil industry guru Matthew R. Simmons says he has no clue and little concern
about what will happen to oil prices in the short term.
At some point, high prices will make an impact. But oil prices have risen
10-fold in the last nine years, and it hasnt hurt the
economy. I dont know where oil is going in the short
term. Its a very volatile market. A year ago, oil
prices broke $50 a barrel, Simmons told Petroleum News in a Jan. 8
interview.

Republican Ron Paul was questioned on CNN about a racist newsletter that went
out in his name over 15 years ago. Paul who did not write the letters had
already accepted moral responsibility for not paying more attention to what
went out in his name in the past and said that he never read the letters.
The issue came up again in a New Republic hit piece recently but Ron Paul
eloquently defended Civil Rights and said that the issue came up because he is
getting more support from blacks than any other Republican.
Paul said, “Rosa Parks is one of my heroes, Martin Luther King is a hero
because they practice the Libertarian principle of civil disobedience, non
violence.” He continued, "Racism is a collectivist idea you see people in
groups, civil libertarians like my self see everybody as an important
individual. It is not the color of the skin that is important as Martin Luther
King said it is the character that is important.”
