TT:
Back in 2005 when I spent a month as a visiting scholar at Dresden Technical
University in Germany I was stunned to be told by several graduate students
that in the rural areas of Saxony a quarter of voters supported so-called neo-nazi political parties and organizations. Now one of my
favorite academic outlets the International Journal of Public Opinion Research
features in its latest issue two essays debating the roots of public support
for radical right parties in Europe.
-----------------------------
TT says:
Where do they get radical right? N.S. is an Aryan left creation. The right wing
is no friend to the true N.S. Those that say they are N.S in most cases are
National capitalist.

Clinton leads in Jewish backers
Ben Harris
Hillary Clinton has attracted the most endorsements from Jewish members of
Congress -- but John McCain and Barack Obama also have landed some key lawmakers.
Published: 12/31/2007
NEW YORK (JTA) -- As the nation trains its spotlight on New Hampshire two Jewish
politicians have become central players in the Granite State's political drama
that may well determine who secures the Democratic and Republican nominations.
U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut a self-described "Independent
Democrat" recently crossed party lines to endorse Republican John McCain
and will be working to boost support from independents for the Arizona senator.
Meanwhile a less well-known member of Congress U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-N.H.) his state's first
Jewish congressman and the co-chair of the New Hampshire campaign of Democrat Barack Obama will be stumping on
primary day for the Illinois senator.
"I know that the various policies of the candidates tell us something
about how they think and what their priorities are but aren't necessarily in
this primary contest the ultimate determiner" Hodes
told JTA. "For me there were other singular qualities that I saw that
moved me: authenticity consistency and congruity judgment the ability to
inspire and bring people together. And simply who Obama
is and what his life experience is means a profound change for the way we are
perceived in the world."
Though congressional endorsements are not generally seen as having a
particularly strong impact on the presidential contest with the primary races
as close as they are endorsements have become an issue in the campaign. Obama and U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) in particular
have sparred over the number of endorsements each has racked up — though
Clinton the Democratic frontrunner still enjoys a comfortable lead with more
than twice as many on the books as of the end of last week.
Lieberman's support for McCain is also deemed significant given the substantial
number of independent voters in New Hampshire and a system that allows them to
take part in either of the major party primaries. The endorsement from
Lieberman sparked a slew of positive stories about McCain bolstering his image
as a maverick willing to work in a bipartisan fashion.
"I think it's helped McCain a lot" said Ben Chouake
president of the pro-Israel Norpac and a member of
McCain's finance committee. "I think his polls have gone up tremendously
since the Lieberman endorsement and I think he's going to win New
Hampshire."
As of Dec. 28 Clinton had rounded up 76 congressional endorsements including
the bulk of the Jewish congressional delegation that has declared its support.
Among Clinton's supporters are some of the most familiar Jewish political names
in the country: U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Charles Schumer as
well as U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) whose sister Ann Lewis advises the
former First Lady. All told 14 Jewish members of Congress are backing Clinton.
Besides Hodes Obama has
been endorsed by only three Jewish members: Rep. Steve Rothman ( D-N.J.) Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) and
Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.).
On the Republican side U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) is the only Jewish
member to issue an endorsement; he's backing former New York City Mayor Rudolph
Giuliani.
That still leaves roughly half of the Jewish congressional delegation up for
grabs including several well-known figures including U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter
(R-Pa.).
Four of 10 Jewish Democratic lawmakers from California — Feinstein and Reps.
Jane Harman Tom Lantos and Brad Sherman — are backing Clinton. But the other
six have not declared.
Though most Jewish congressmen and senators from New York and New Jersey have
rallied around Clinton — Rothman being the one exception — in Florida a state
that may be crucial if the race remains tight coming out of Iowa and New
Hampshire the delegation has split.
U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) has endorsed Clinton while Wexler
is backing Obama. Florida's third Jewish
representative Democrat Ron Klein hasn't declared.
Florida is the sixth state to vote on Jan. 29 and observers say the large and
politically well-organized Jewish community there could end up having a
substantial impact on the outcome if the race remains tight through the end of
January. Even so the impact of Jewish endorsements is likely to be minimal some
observers say.
"It's all just a scorecard to say who they've got. No one's going to vote
for Hillary because Debbie Wasserman Schultz is with her" said one
Democratic consultant unaffiliated with any campaign who asked not to be
identified. "They might come out to listen to her but they're not going to
vote for her because of that."
What might sway voters are endorsements from marquee names like former
President Bill Clinton who has been active in his wife's campaign and talk show
host Oprah Winfrey who has thrown her support to Obama.
"Bill Clinton is still so revered among the vast vast
vast majority of Jewish voters" the Democratic
operative said. "Bill Clinton could actually sway voters and he will
matter."
TT says:
Blacks and Jews are free to talk like this but not the White working
class."SHUT UP AND PAY TAXES".

Sarkozy's Greek-Jewish roots
Jean Cohen
A new book describes the Greek-Jewish roots of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Published: 01/02/2008
ATHENS (JTA) -- A new book detailing the Greek-Jewish roots of Nicolas Sarkozy shows political involvement for the French
president's family.
According to "Me the grandson of a Greek" a new
book written by three Greek authors two Sarkozy
ancestors were members of the Greek Parliament in the early 20th century.
One of the authors is Leon Nar a Jewish writer from Salonika also known as
Thessaloniki the former hometown of Sarkozy's
mother's family.
The book theorizes that Sarkozy's mother's family
came to Salonika from the French region of Provence. Sarkozy's
great-grandfather Mordechai Mallah
a well-known Salonika jeweler and his wife Reina had seven children. One was
named Aaron Sarkozy's grandfather.
At the age of 14 Aaron Mallah and his mother left for
France where Aaron studied medicine and served as a doctor during World War I.
It was in Paris that Aaron met the gentile nurse who would become his wife. In
order to marry Adel Bouvieux Aaron was baptized and
converted to Catholicism taking the name Benedict or Benico.
A daughter Andree Mallah married a Hungarian refugee
named Paul Sarkozy. The couple had three sons
including Nicolas.
Paul Sarkozy left the family when Nicolas was 5 years
old and Benico took care of them. Nicolas according
to the book was very attached to his grandfather who used to tell his
grandchildren stories from Salonika.
Until Benico's death in 1972 Nicolas Sarkozy and his brothers did not know they had Jewish
roots. The Sarkozy brothers would learn the truth
about their Jewish roots from their mother.
The authors said Benico did not tell his
grandchildren about their Jewish roots to protect them fearing anti-Semitism
and another Holocaust which killed most members of the Mallah
clan.
In 1973 with his family facing financial difficulties the 20-year-old Nicolas Sarkozy traveled to Salonika to sell his family's leftover
property.
During a visit to Greece in July 2006 the Jewish community of Salonika honored Sarkozy at a ceremony at the French Embassy in Athens.
The community gave Sarkozy then France's interior
minister an album of his family tree going back to his great-great-grandfather
along with pictures of his ancestors. Sarkozy
recognized some of the faces in the pictures from his own family albums.
At the event he met Lucy Saltiel the wife of the
president of the Jewish community of Salonika and a member of the Mallah family. Visibly moved Sarkozy
told the Jewish community members "My roots are here."

When SS means sex and science

Omega Minor
By Paul Verhaeghen
Dalkey Archive £9.99
Paul Verhaeghen's Omega Minor is a big book in every
sense. Almost 700 pages long it takes on the history of the 20th century. It
moves between Nazi Germany and Los Alamos from the Berlin Wall to Auschwitz. We
meet Oppenheimer and Heisenberg Mengele and Speer
with a brief glimpse of Hitler in the bunker.
The novel interweaves the stories of three central characters. First there is Jozef De Heer an elderly Jewish
Holocaust survivor whom we meet in Berlin in 1995. After attempting suicide he
ends up in hospital where he meets Paul Andermans a
young psychology student who has come to study memory at Potsdam.
It is the kind of joke that Verhaeghen likes: one
memory man meets another as De Heer tells the student
his life story.
Then there is Goldfarb a brilliant Nobel Prize-winning physicist who escaped
Nazi Germany and went to America but has now returned to Berlin. Omega Minor moves from one character's story to another mixing
Nazis Jews physics and sex.
But it is more complex than that.Verhaeghen is an
ambitious writer switching from the 1930s to the 1990s and back mixing genres
and tone. While at times the book operates in recognisable
territory one can never entirely relax.
At the beginning in Berlin in 1995 two old men look back on their youth. Both
were victims of the Nazis. Goldfarb escaped in the 1930s before becoming a
brilliant physicist whereas De Heer didn't get away
and was taken to Auschwitz.
The central part of the book is set in the 1930s and '40s with vivid
recreations of the rise of Nazism and of the sharp intellectual world of
mathematicians and physicists at Harvard and Los Alamos. But there is a
fascinating twist towards the end and suddenly the book becomes a dramatic
thriller. Nothing is what it seemed.
At its best Omega Minor is an exciting novel of history and ideas. Verhaeghen is himself a scientist a cognitive psychologist
working in America and he is thoroughly at home in the world of scientific
theories. He even makes nuclear physics come alive.
He has also immersed himself in the history of the period and the literature of
the Holocaust and much of the detail feels authentic.
Yet he is also able to change gear from nuclear physics to the twists and turns
of a compelling thriller. His book is crammed with an extraordinary cast of
characters: neo-Nazi skinheads and SS officers film
stars rabbis and magicians. At times it reads like The White Hotel (but with
Einstein replacing Freud) re-written by Thomas Pynchon.
There is however a big but. The sex is graphic sometimes pornographic and the
sex scenes involving SS brothels and Nazi officers are of dubious taste. It
seems that for 30 years writers and film-makers have felt compelled to exploit
the pornographic potential of Nazism. Few artistic trends are as unsavoury as this. The physical violence is just as
explicit and there's a lot of it.
Omega Minor is also too often too heavy and slow awash with unnecessary detail
characters and indeed plot. Many readers will get lost and anyone who can
understand the ending deserves a share of the prizes Verhaeghen
has already received for the novel.
It is really three books in one and it is a long wait until page 563 for the
big twist. Verhaeghen has put enormous effort into
this book. Unfortunately the reader has to as well.

Extremist violence is on the rise in Russia but don't look for the culprits
among the downtrodden.
MOSCOW | The lessons of World War II in which the Soviet Union lost more than
20 million people while battling the forces of fascism and Nazism seem lost on
Roman a 30-year-old shaven-headed ultranationalist from Moscow.
"All non-Russians should be ousted from Russian territories. Minorities
should live in their own zones. Yakuts should stay in
the Sakha Republic. Chechens in Chechnya Russians in
Russia" he said.
Armed with brass knuckles and metal rods sporting clean black boots and
swastika armbands Russia's extreme nationalists and neo-Nazis have typically
been disaffected young men in the big cities fueled by alcohol or drugs.
But Roman deputy director of a manufacturing firm in Moscow is a good example
of how those patterns are changing.
"In the past two or three years the social structure of active neo-Nazi
groups has changed significantly. Before they were coming from troubled
families while now they're students at prestigious universities and sons of engineers service members police officers" said Galina Kozhevnikova an analyst at the SOVA Center think tank which
tracks extremist activity.
Such activity is on the rise in Russia and the changing background of the
extremists roughly mirrors changes in the broader society as the average wage
has nearly tripled confounding the notion that increased poverty and
deprivation fuel racism.
"Being part of the neo-Nazi movement can guarantee lifelong opportunities.
They can count on employment PR and legal and financial support in prison"
Kozhevnikova said. While there is no proof that
neo-Nazis are supported at the highest levels of business or government
activists say there is plenty of evidence that they are at least countenanced
by law enforcement.
"There are a number of instances of strong ties between ultranationalists
and law enforcement agencies including studying at police schools working for
the police being related to someone in the police force" Kozhevnikova said.
She noted that the founder of the notorious neo-Nazi gang Mad Crowd 13 Dmitry Borovikov was the son of a "a
high-profile police official."
Mad Crowd 13 members have been charged with murdering an African student in
2006 killing a Chinese citizen and attacking an Armenian citizen in 2003. Most
of the gang members were detained shortly after Borovikov
was fatally wounded while being arrested last year.
Mikhail is a 22-year-old information technology major at one of Moscow's best
universities. He said his hatred of foreigners started in high school.
"When I saw that those newcomers didn't behave the way Russians did I started looking for ways to show them that we live
differently" he says explaining that he tried talking first but resorted
to violence when the "newcomers" did not change their ways.
Mikhail doesn't drink vodka doesn't smoke and doesn't use drugs. He calls his
ideology "common nationalism" a reaction against those who
"perfidiously encroach upon something" he loves.
"If you call yourself ethnic Russian then you're
a nationalist. Nationalism isn't fascism or Nazism but love for your nation"
said Mikhail who couldn't estimate the number of times he has beaten up
non-Slavs.
"We rough up until the moment we see sincere repentance."
GUERRILLA WAR
For his part Roman calls himself a "guerrilla" in a war against all
"alien diasporas" that come in great numbers
to this country with its 80 percent ethnic Russian population. According to the
State Statistics Agency more than 215000 immigrants came to Russia between
January and September 2007 the overwhelming majority from Central Asia the
Caucasus Ukraine and Belarus. One unofficial estimate puts the number of
illegal immigrants in Russia at 8 million to 12 million.
Jews or anyone with dark features from the impoverished Caucasus regions are
particularly unwelcome.
"Everyone everywhere hates churki [mud people]
and Jews. Chechens slaughtered 60000 Russians! If they could people would start
wiping them from the face of the earth." said Roman who never kills his
victims preferring to stab or break bones. "Younger neo-Nazis are fools.
They get carried away and are sometimes ready for murder" he added.
"We act like gangs and never have a set plan of attack. We agree on a
'hunt' when playing Reich [pouring out onto the street shouting pro-Hitler
slogans] or hanging out in a pub. We just get out and pick an alien in the
street that we like" Roman said estimating that he has been on about 20
such hunts.
In the first 11 months of 2007 racist or skinhead violence in Russia increased
by 19 percent over the same period in 2006 resulting in 57 members of ethnic
minorities being stabbed to death and at least 546 attacked according to the
SOVA Center.
State figures do not count the number of isolated ultranationalist groups in
the country but human rights groups including the independent Moscow Bureau for
Human Rights reported 50000 individual extreme nationalists in 2005 compared
with a few dozen in the early 1990s.
Among the biggest extremist groups are the Movement Against
Illegal Immigration Moscow Hammer Skin Skin Legion
and United Brigades 88 a coded reference to Heil
Hitler as the double "8" refers to "H" the eighth letter of
the alphabet. Their memberships include up to 10000 in the Russian capital and
some 15000 in St. Petersburg with hundreds in smaller cities.
And those smaller cities are seeing an increasing share of the violence.
"Skinheads formerly were active only in big cities and in the towns of the
southern part of Russia where ethnic tensions are very acute but today this
movement is spreading over regional and county centers" a recent report by
the human rights bureau says.
Meanwhile political leaders have failed to stem the tide of violence because
they "frankly don't recognize a neo-Nazi movement as a serious political
problem" Kozhevnikova said.
Human rights activists say that ethnic and even racist language has been
grossly exploited by high-ranking politicians. And some major political parties
to some degree embrace xenophobia a 2006 report by the SOVA Center says.
"The problem isn't so much that some officials support the neo-Nazis it's
that official actions are aimed at catering to nationalist voters and instilling
paranoia and fear in the electorate for political gain." said Niсkolai Butkevich research
director of the Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union.
The Liberal Democrats for instance have a long record of anti-Semitic and racist
rhetoric: in the previous parliament their leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky
suggested using death squads to kill off entire Chechen villages. In the recent
elections to the State Duma the party passed the 7
percent threshold to stay in parliament.
Vladimir Putin's United Russia party is not above such appeals either. Shortly
after the 2006 murder of an African student in St. Petersburg in which members
of Mad Crowd 13 were charged United Russia member Alexander Nevzorov
commented that foreigners "can also get into fights insult someone or
seduce someone's wife."
The Jewish union's 2006 report suggests that official indifference to the
plight of non-Slav victims simply reflects public opinion "which tacitly
endorses neo-Nazi views."

SUPPORT THE BLACK KKK
I don't know if Jason Whitlock writer for the Kansas City Star coined the
phrase himself but it is about the best phrase to describe the continuous
heartbreak from Black men killing Black everybody. Whitlock wrote an article
using the term "The Black KKK" in reference to the young Black men
that shamefully killed Washington Redskins football player Sean Taylor. I am
not a fan of putting our Black family business "out in the street"
but we must use prominent media for positive stimulus just as those who want to
see us terrorize our own people use major cable for shows like
"Beef." If prominent media didn't include the internet these days I
don't think Whitlock's message would have seen the light of any monitor screen
or newspaper. Take advantage.
Last week the Black KKK claimed the life of Sean Taylor a young man whom by
many accounts from close friends and teammates had changed his life following
the birth of his child. It is a beautiful thing when this happens. My humble
perspective is that when a child is born the world suddenly seems like a bigger
place with better things to offer; and more sincere responsibility.

TT
I was listening to your 11 - 25 - 2007 radio show and I was impressed by
your thoughts on returning to the Articles of Confederation. Stating that it
needs only to be updated reminded of Patrick Henry. That's exactly what Henry
told the statesmen who insisted that the Articles had become obsolete. And you
are correct about the peasants in the countryside being ripped off by the
authoritarians who pushed the Constitution through before they could stop it or
even have a say.
As a Southerner I witnessed first hand that their isn't a dimes
worth a difference between White workes in the North
and South and I'm fixing to prove it:
Texas had a surplus of work during the second half of the 1970s. And the wages
were high because most of it was related to the oil industry. At the same time
there were big layoffs at the manufacturing facilities in places like Michigan
and upstate New York. So Texas was flooded by White Northern workers. All I can
say is that they were received with friendly Southern hospitality and they did
a damn good job. The boys from Michigan were quite impressive because they were
conspicuously racists. People from the South like that! Anyway there were no
problems at the jobsites.
I learned that it's crooked politicians and big shots that divide the North and
South more than anything else.

Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani are the top two
hopefuls among American Jews according to a poll released this week.
Clinton garnered a "favorable" rating from 53% of all respondents to
the survey which was conducted by the American Jewish Committee. The senator's
onetime rival and fellow New Yorker former Republican mayor Rudy Giuliani was
viewed favorably by 40% of the survey's participants — a result far higher than
the 15% who considered themselves members of the GOP and slightly better than
those posted overall by Democrats Barack Obama and John Edwards.
The poll which surveyed 1000 self-identified American Jews between November 6
and November 25 presents the Jewish community as being somewhat out of step
with the broader American electorate. When compared with a major national poll
that was also released this week the AJCommittee
survey shows Jewish Americans to be less likely than the general public to
support Illinois Senator Barack Obama
but more likely to back Giuliani and former North Carolina senator Edwards.
The study also depicts the community's attitudes toward a broad range of
domestic and foreign issues including its notably gloomy view of Israel's
prospects for peace.
--------------------------
TT says:
The Jews are not in lock step on this since they know none of these candidates
would dare to cross Israel. Its really hard to pick
who is willing to give oral the most to the Zionists.

Hey TT
I just heard about this even though it apparently happened in 2002.
During a speech to the NAACP Philadelphia's black mayor John Street boasted
that the city had a black mayor a black police commissioner a black fire
commissioner and a black treasurer. He said "Let me tell you: The brothers
and sisters are running this city! Oh yes running it! Don't let nobody fool you; we are in charge of the City of Brotherly
Love. We are in charge!".

Obama and the Jews
At every stage in his political career Barack Obama has reached out to the Jewish community.
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Ask about Barack Obama's natural constituencies and you might hear that he's
the first black with a viable shot at the White House; or about his Kenyan
father and his childhood in Indonesia; or the youthfulness of his followers; or
the millions of Oprah junkies swooning over his candidacy.
What you might not hear is that the Illinois senator who made history Thursday
by winning the Democratic caucus in Iowa has made Jewish leaders an early stop
at every stage in his political career.
In his first run for the Illinois Senate in 1996 he sought the backing of Alan
Solow a top Chicago lawyer. Eight years later running for the U.S. Senate --
long before he became the shoo-in when he was running in a Democratic field
packed with a dozen candidates including some Jews -- one of his first meetings
was with Robert Schrayer a top Jewish philanthropist
in Chicago.
When he launched his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination in
late 2006 he named as his fund-raising chief Alan Solomont
the Boston Jewish philanthropist who helped shepherd Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.)
to the Democratic candidacy in 2004.
And he chose a gathering of the pro-Israel lobby the American Israel Public
Affairs Committee last March to deliver his presidential candidacy's first
foreign policy speech.
"Some of my earliest and most ardent supporters came from the Jewish
community in Chicago" Obama told JTA in 2004
after his keynote speech galvanized the Democratic convention in Boston.
Three years later addressing the National Jewish Democratic Council's
candidate's forum he made the same point when he was asked about his ties with
Arab Americans and Muslim Americans in Chicago.
"My support within in the Jewish community has been much more significant
than my support within the Muslim community" Obama
said at the April forum adding: "I welcome and seek the support of the
Muslim and Arab communities."
His Jewish followers are fervent distributing "Obama
'08" yarmulkes early in his campaign.
His rock-star status as well as the relationships Obama has built in the community have helped avoided
murmurings about his otherwise notable divergences from pro-Israel orthodoxies.
In his AIPAC speech for example Obama favored
diplomacy as a means of confronting Iran's suspected nuclear weapons program.
"While we should take no option including military action off the table
sustained and aggressive diplomacy combined with tough sanctions should be our
primary means to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons" he said.
AIPAC does not oppose diplomacy in engaging Iran but dislikes it as an emphasis
believing that talks could buy the Iranian regime bomb-making time. But his
words did not stop the Chicago hotel ballroom packed with 800 AIPAC members
from cheering Obama on.
A few weeks later Obama drew more rubberneckers than
any other candidate attending AIPAC's policy forum in Washington -- drawing
away onlookers from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) although she outpolls Obama among Jewish voters. No one winced when he said that
Palestinian needs must be considered in working out a peace deal although
that's hardly standard AIPAC pep talk.
He made the same point at the NJDC event.
"It is in the interests of Israel to establish peace in the Middle East"
he said. "It cannot be done at the price of compromising Israel's security
and the United States government and an Obama
presidency cannot ask Israel to take risks with respect to its security. But it
can ask Israel to say that it is still possible for us to allow more than just
this status quo of fear terror division. That can't be our long-term
aspiration."
Early in his campaign he handily killed an Israel-related controversy in its
early stages. At a chat he had said that "no one has suffered more than
the Palestinians."
Blame the leadership was what he meant he later explained: "What I said
was nobody has suffered more than the Palestinian people from the failure of
the Palestinian leadership to recognize Israel to renounce violence and to get
serious about negotiating peace and security for the region" Obama said during an MSNBC debate.
Obama tempers his deviations from pro-Israel
orthodoxy by going an extra mile in areas where he agrees with groups such as
AIPAC.
He has led the effort in the Senate to pass legislation that would assist U.S . States that choose to divest from Iran. His top Middle
East adviser is Dennis Ross who had the job during the Clinton administration
and who has since principally blamed the Palestinian leadership for the failure
of the Oslo peace process.
And in recent speeches Obama tweaked his pro-Israel
rhetoric to echo the recent drive by the Israeli government and pro-Israel
groups to insist on recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.
"I think everyone knows what the basic outlines of an agreement would look
like" he said in a speech redistributed by his campaign. "It would
mean that the Palestinians would have to reinterpret the notion of right of
return in a way that would preserve Israel as a Jewish state. It might involve
compensation and other concessions from the Israelis but ultimately Israel is
not going to give up its state."
On domestic issues Obama is savvy about Jewish social
justice commitments and is on a first name basis with two of the top Jewish
religious lobbyists in Washington -- Rabbi David Saperstein of the Reform
movement and Nathan Diament who represents the
Orthodox Union.
But that connection is not enough to supplant Clinton among Jewish voters. In a
recent American Jewish Committee poll his favorable rating was 38 percent while
hers was 53 percent.
Clinton also has most of the Jewish congressional delegation backing her. Her
years as first lady and as senator have made her a more familiar presence among
Jews. Public policy groups are likelier to favor her uncompromising approach to
pushing universal health care as opposed to Obama's
appeal to build consensus on the issue.
Obama's appeal is in his broader vision according to Solomont.
"This election will be about change: a change in government and the way
politics is conducted" he told JTA last May. "There is a connection
between gridlock and the smallness of our politics."

JAGUARS FROM INDIA? POOOOOHY!
Why? This representative has stated that an Indian-based owner could present an
"image problem" for Jaguar believing U.S. buyers at least is not
"ready" for an Indian-owned luxury brand. He did not go into
specifics on what these "image" issues were.
His comments are in sharp contrasts to Jaguar and its supporters. The president
of the Jaguar Dealers' Council in Britain claims that he would be happy with
any one of the remaining three bidders as the owner of Jaguar. And union leaders
at Land Rover and Jaguar voted to support India's Tata Motors in its bid.
Our take? We polled a few non-enthusiasts car shoppers
and discovered that virtually all of them didn't know Ford currently owns
Jaguar. Personally we don't see an issue. While Tata is unknown outside its
market the same can be said about Lotus owner Proton of Malaysia. Unless Tata
grossly neglects Jaguar and Land Rover we see the luxury brands elevating the
Indian company to worldwide status. Even enthusiasts have forgotten what a
sorry shape Jaguar had been before Ford took it over. Finally BMW previous
ownership of Rover shows that even well-known automakers too can flop.
