Surely no Black person, for that matter any oppressed person, considers the hanging of nooses a prank. Nor should any white person. Such a thing is never done in jest, but is a threat of an intended action, a threat meant to control behavior or actions. It is a threat of an oppressor to keep the oppressed in line. Lawmakers want schoolchildren to help recommend a new statue
of a famous Ohioan to represent the state in the U.S. Capitol's
National Statuary Hall.
The recommendations will help
lawmakers decide who should replace a
statue of William Allen, a 19th century congressman and Ohio governor who
portrayed blacks as savages and supported the rights of southern slave
owners.
Allen is one of two Ohioans in
the National Statuary Hall, a large
semicircular room in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., where historic
figures from each state are honored. Ohio donated Allen's statue to the
Capitol's collection in 1887, where it joined that of James Garfield,
the nation's 20th president, who was assassinated in 1881.
"We figured it was probably
time to bring Gov. Allen back home to Ohio
and pick someone who better embodies the spirit of our state for the
Capitol," said state Rep. Mark Wagoner, R-Toledo.
Possibilities for new statues
abound in Ohio's rich history, Wagoner
said. Olympic gold medal winner Jesse Owens or Toledo's Michael Owens,
who created a glass bottling empire that employed much of the
northwestern part of the state in the early 1900s, are just a few
examples,
Wagoner said.
The six-member House-Senate
committee has called on the Ohio Historical
Society and the Department of Education to encourage as many Ohioans
as possible to weigh in on a suitable statue. Lawmakers hope
fifth-graders, who have an Ohio history requirement in their curriculum,
will be
particularly active in suggesting famous figures.
The Historical Society is
creating a Web site where people can cast a
vote or nominate a favorite Ohioan from history. The parameters for a
nomination are wide open. The National Statuary Hall Collection requires
only that the subject be a deceased U.S. citizen, known for
"distinguished civic or military service."
The committee hopes to collect
names over the next six months and make
a formal recommendation to the state legislature by March 20, 2008.
Michael Ring, spokesman for the
Ohio Historical Society, said he
expects nominations to range from sharpshooter Annie Oakley to inventor
Thomas Edison to sports figures such as Branch Rickey, a baseball
executive
who broke the game's color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson.
"Hopefully, there will be a
mix of women, men, African Americans,
pioneers, presidents... people who make history come alive for
Ohioans,"
Ring said.

MOUNT CLEMENS -- The man who fatally shot a 7-Eleven clerk during an
argument over the price of a convenience store taco was sentenced today
by Macomb Circuit Court Judge Mary Chrzanowski to spend the rest of his
life in prison.
A jury found Kenyatta Davis of
Shelby Township guilty last month on
first-degree murder and felony firearm charges for the murder in the Aug.
24, 2006, shooting of Wajed Ali Baig of Utica. In addition to the life
sentence for the first-degree murder charge, Davis will serve two years
in prison on the felony firearm charge.

Several thousand demonstrators turned out for the rally against Iranian
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad across from the United Nations.
New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn helped kick off Monday's event,
declaring: "We are all here today to send one clear, loud and united

will always be a place for the great State of Israel."
The rally at the Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, which started at noon, is in
conjunction with the start of the U.N. General Assembly. It was organized by an

Lost boy
The hate that was in Stephen Long's heart was etched in black ink on his white
skin. The tattoos branding his skin provided a visible and constant reminder to
all who saw him of his white supremacist beliefs. As a family member put it,
Stephen was a walking racist billboard.
Before the 22-year-old could make the decision for himself about which path to
choose, the choice was made for him by a killer wielding a baseball bat.
Christopher Broughton, of Hamilton, is currently working his way through the
court system, charged with Stephen's murder.
But the murder of the young Ottawa man on April 16, 2006 as he slept peacefully
camped out on the floor of a buddy's Collingwood house after a night of
raucous, beer-fuelled partying.
Rebellion set in around age 16,
when Stephen opted to move out of his dad's and stepmother's house and went to
live with a friend's family. He also cut back on the time he spent at school,
eventually dropping out altogether.
Stephen moved in and out of apartments with friends, but eventually came to
rest at the home of his paternal grandmother, to whom he had grown close after
his parents had split up.
With the clear vision of hindsight, Murray notes an incident that had a
significant impact on his son's views of other races.
His teenaged son had been the victim of a violent swarming by a group of black
men. Badly beaten during the encounter, Stephen later relayed to his father
that he had felt he was going to be killed.
It proved to be an incident that stuck with the young man.
At some point in Stephen's life, his dad believes he was recruited by White
activists who fanned the fires of Stephen's simmering hate.
Stephen found his new voice among his white-centric friends and on the
U.S.-based white pride website Stormfront, where he logged postings under the
moniker "Longer."
'FALLEN BROTHER'
In the days after his murder, he was heralded as a "warrior" and
"fallen brother" by Stormfront users. "He had such good hopes
for the future and was a very dedicated White Nationalist," Stormtrooper
777 wrote.
In a book of condolence at Long's funeral, prayers for the family were
punctuated by comments of "See you in Valhalla brother."
On the neo-Nazi forum Stormfront, Long wrote about organizing a meeting of
white nationalists in Ottawa and white power rock bands. While many of his
postings are innocent in nature, some of his online comments clearly
demonstrated his racist beliefs, such as the one he posted on November 2005.
"Every black that their tone with me was wrong, every shove, every fight every
Aryan beauty hypnotized and taken by them I will remember and hold it with all
my hate I possibly have ... Politically incorrect?! yes and proud who would
want to be correct with the governments allowing these broadcasts in favor of
them?! and bring in more?! I the muds keep saying that our government hates
them why do we allow them to keep coming? If the muds know it's for votes then
write home and tell all your coconut head freinds "not to come its not
worth it:"!? Damn them all I will never forget and never forgive, they're
not going to neither should be EVER." (sic throughout)
This wasn't the Stephen his
father knew. There were hints of his feelings, but for the most part the young
man kept his racist ideology separate from his family life -- likely because he
knew they would disapprove.
"The tragedy about racism
is that if you become a racist, it's probably going to be a reinforcing
thing," notes Murray. "People will start to resent you for what you
stand for and that will further polarize you from people of other
cultures."

Neo-Nazi presentation gets cancelled
Speaker and former Neo- Nazi, Thomas "TJ" Leydon Missouri
Western was forced to cancel the lecture of a former neo-Nazi speaker that was
scheduled for earlier this month due to security conflicts.
Because Leydon is currently the only former Skinhead working against the groups
he once represented, he exposes himself to an element of danger.
Many white supremacy groups would prefer he did not have the opportunity to
inform the same impressionable minds which they seek according to the Southern
Poverty Law Center.
In addition to threats and harassment, online white supremacy groups who
consider Leyden a traitor have gone so far as to issue a standing "kill on
sight" directive to eliminate him.
To minimize the threat, CampuSpeak the Colorado based education agency which
manages Leydon, stipulated in his contract that he required armed security
guards.
Missouri Western's own security staff is not armed with guns, but carries
pepper spray and expandable batons, forcing event organizers to look elsewhere
for armed security.
Despite contacting local law enforcement agencies in an effort to contract off
duty police officers, they were unable to secure armed officers.
Jonathan Kelley, Director of Public Safety explained, "It was my
understanding that providing personal body guard protection for individual
citizens was not something routinely provided by local law enforcement."
With no other recourse, Missouri Western officials were forced to cancel the
event despite Mr. Leydon's offer to appear without the benefit of armed
security.
A new contract is currently in the works to secure a future lecture by Leydon
in early November.

Dear Mr. Metzger,
The new PBS documentary about WWII called "the war' by Director Ken
Burns is airing now.
I can't bring myself to watch even a single minute of it. Ken burns is a
very good director and is very good at making compelling documentary films but
this time it is just too much.
Anyone over say 35 or 40 who thinks this country is better now than when
they were a kid is insane. It has been a steady deterioration since my earliest
memories as a child.
More civil?
More polite?
Less crime, especially against children?
Better standard of living?
The environment?
Prospects for a sustainable future for us and our children?
I could go on and on>
We are in a disaster.
My Father died this past April 24 leaving my Mother alone and heart
broken after 63 years of Marriage. He fought the Japanese on Guadalcanal . He
was one of "the greatest generation".
And it was he and all the other millions and millions of men like him who

out. My Father never had a clue about what was happening around us as I went to
high school in the sixties and had to fight for my life every single day

country was being over whelmed with illegal aliens. He and his generation went
to war and killed millions of people and used nuclear weapons on innocent

I also am a follower of the peak oil theory but this does give contrary info.
I've always thought that the idea that the oil buried so deep underground, was
from living sources, was pretty far out. I'd be interested in your thoughts on
what this article says. This is not my first time running into these ideas. If
peak oil is not a firm, probable theory, and you and I may not be able to
establish that, one way or the other, then it is perilous to lean to far on it
in future scenarios that impact our world view. Food for thought.

Hangman's Noose
You don't have to be an executioner to appreciate this noose. Nor do you
have to have the traditional eight coils. This is actually a very
practical, strong, and secure noose, but may become difficult to untie if
pulled hard.
To make it, start with a
"N"-shape of rope, with plenty of extra rope off the bottom of the
"N" (nevermind the direction of the "N"). Keep
wrapping tight coils spiraling up the outside until you're satisfied and tuck
the end of the rope through the top eye. Pull down the bottom eye to form
the loop and trap the tucked end of rope.
This knot bears some resemblance
to the Uni-Knot commonly used in monofilament line by anglers.
If you ever came upon desperate
times in the woods and needed to snare some game but only had rope and no snare
wire, you might consider using the sturdy Hangman's Noose. Don't use the
noose itself, but rather run the standing part of the rope through the noose to
form a running loop. You can adjust the size of the noose perfectly to
make sure your running loop isn't too stiff or too sloppy. Use light
grasses to tie the loop to bushes or twigs to keep the snare in place.
The Hangman's Noose can also be
used as a means to put extra mass at the end of a rope to aid in throwing a
line. Of course, the loop can be made very small for such a
purpose. When you want to untie it, just pull the loop all the way
through and the knot will disappear.

Psychological Science, University of Queensland psychologist, Bill von Hippel,
reports that decreased inhibitory ability in late adulthood can lead to
unintended prejudice, social inappropriateness, depression, and gambling
problems.
Regarding prejudice, von Hippel
and colleagues found that older white adults showed greater stereotyping toward
African Americans than younger white adults did, despite being more motivated
to control their prejudices. Von Hippel suggests that "because prejudice
toward African Americans conflicts with prevailing egalitarian beliefs, older
adults attempt to inhibit their racist feelings, but fail."

I'm getting quite a few of these type of e-mails that don't make any sense to
me. I don't know what they're reading or how they are interpreting
it. There seems to be a difference in ideology. In fact a big
difference between those who are comfortable being called white supremacists
and those that prefer white separatism. It appears most white supremacist
are a little like the corporate supremacists are today. They don't have a
big problem with Negroes existing in their territory as long as the Negroes are
either physical slaves or economic slaves. And at the same time the white

believe in total absolute territorial separation. I want nothing to do
with segregation. I want nothing to do with human slavery or economic

seem to be in the North and the West. They generally want as little

The Navy will spend as much as $600,000 to modify a 40-year-old barracks
complex that resembles a swastika from the air, a gaffe that went largely
unnoticed before satellite images became easily accessible on the Internet.
The Navy said officials noted
the buildings' shape after the groundbreaking in 1967 but decided against
changing it at the time because it wasn't obvious from the ground. Aerial
photos made available on Google Earth in recent years have since revealed the
buildings' shape to a wide audience.

CHICAGO, Sept. 21 -- The money spent on one day of the Iraq war could buy homes
for almost 6,500 families or health care for 423,529 children, or could outfit
1.27 million homes with renewable electricity, according to the American
Friends Service Committee, which displayed those statistics on large banners in
cities nationwide Thursday and Friday.
The war is costing $720 million a day or $500,000 a minute, according to the
group's analysis of the work of Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph E.
Stiglitz and Harvard public finance lecturer Linda J. Bilmes.
The estimates made by the group, which opposes the conflict, include not only
the immediate costs of war but also ongoing factors such as long-term health
care for veterans, interest on debt and replacement of military hardware.
"The wounded are coming home, and many of them have severe brain and
spinal injuries, which will require round-the-clock care for the rest of their
lives," said Michael McConnell, Great Lakes regional director of the AFSC,
a peace group affiliated with the Quaker church.
The $720 million figure breaks down into $280 million a day from Iraq war supplementary
funding bills passed by Congress, plus $440 million daily in incurred, but
unpaid, long-term costs.
But some supporters of the Bush administration's policy in Iraq say that even
if the war is costly, that fact is essentially immaterial.
"Either you think the war in Iraq supports America's national security, or
not," said Frederick W. Kagan, a resident scholar at the American
Enterprise Institute. "If you think national security won't be harmed by
withdrawing from Iraq, of course you would want to see that money spent
elsewhere. I myself think that belief, on a certain level, is absurd, so the
question of focusing on how much money we are spending there is
irrelevant."

spinmeisters to depict American conservatism as a nonracial phenomenon, the
partisan impact of racial attitudes in the South is stronger today than in the
past."
And the cynicism of the "Southern strategy" introduced by Richard
Nixon, which delivered decades of political victories to Republicans, is now
starting to look like a trap for the G.O.P.

Thanks for the response on Peak Oil. It's always good to get your perspective
on things and I agree that whether we run out of oil, or not, overpopulation is
the big issue. Whether it is oil, water, food or land, we are heading down that
path of collapse.
I wanted to say something about the North-South thing, since everyone else is
chiming in. I've lived in the South all my life. I was raised in the years
between segregation and desegregation. I have seen a lot of changes in my life.
Some of it very hard to stomach. I went to a segregated private school, because
the blacks flooded our public schools. We were not rich. We were working class.
My Dad managed to make the money to send us, as did many working class parents,
to keep their children out of school with blacks. Anyway, our mascot was a
rebel. Our school emblem was a Confederate flag. The school was named, as most
were, after a Confederate general. So I've been there. I was raised in the
atmosphere of the South. My ancestors fought for the South and some owned
slaves. Our family was not however, in the upper class of the South. As I have
grown older, I have seen what the South really was. It was a closed society
with a caste system. There were rungs on the ladder with blacks at the bottom.
Working class whites were in the middle somewhere, depending on your name and
location but is clear......to the upper class white families, we working class
whites were just a step above the niggers......no two ways about it. Matter of
fact, I think thats one reason most working class whites got so bent out of
shape during desegregation, they lost their place. No matter what a white man
did in the south, he was still better than a nigger BUT, if you weren''t upper
class, it just wasn't your town. It belonged to the rich white folks in the big
houses. It's much the same today for the upper class, except now that upper
class is color blind in public. Where I'm from, hatred of Yankee's was long
lived and well deserved, as Sherman burned the whole town I grew up in, save a
building or two. He put almost everyone in the poor house around here for a
century. That does not however, change the fact that the people who started
that war on the Southern side were rich whites, who by and large, looked down
on people like you and I and I'm sure most everyone of your listeners. So I say
to my southern brethren, to love the South, love its land and it's history.
Love your ancestors who are buried in it's soil, honor the fine men who died to
defend it but don't get confused about your place down here, then or now. To
the upper crust, we were and remain, all just niggers, white or black.

Hi TPT...wanted to say an excellent show today...great explanation on not only
differences between white separatism/supremacy, but a deeper understanding on
where you are coming from and the philosophy's you hold.
I think that hate is a useful tool, but a tool like fire, can be a 'dangerous
master and a fearful servant'...
I have similar views on people of color. And actually, there is more hate in my
heart for traitors and white Christian Zionists and the people on top
oppressing the people on the bottom than I have for the nigger on the street
who really hasn't done much to me but I'd rather live separately from...how
much power does the nigger on the street have on me much less the ability to
change things and influence people? Not much...like you said earlier, it's the
people who sign the checks that deserve the perfect hatred for the mess we are
in....
As usually, your a step ahead of everybody else TPT...
P.S. I think Timothy McVeigh was about 30 years ahead of his time...the country
wasn't ready for such revolutionary activity yet, but mark my words, sooner or
later, he will be hailed as a martyr and there will be a national holiday to
commemorate his brave first step of how to change things when voting and
protesting no longer change a criminal government.
