RESPONSE TO THE GUN GRABBERS
The danger with this legislation is that gun owners may not seek help for any
mental health issue for fear of being deemed unstable and having their guns
taken away. I have not read all the details but I would hate to think a citizen
could be stripped of Constitutional rights solely on the basis of a doctor
filling out some paperwork. (I doubt this is the case though, since the 5th
amendment requires due process of law before deprivation of liberty). I would
also hope there would be provisions that would enable a person who had some
issues in the past, or feels they were unjustly declared a danger, to file an
appeal.

Crude oil prices spiked above $92 a barrel Friday on tensions in the Middle
East and renewed concerns about supply.
The United States announced new sanctions against Iran on Thursday, targeting
the elite Revolutionary Guards, which Washington accuses backing Shiite
militants in Iraq. A confrontation between the world's largest oil consumer and
its fourth largest oil producer could upend markets.
Parallel to fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East were new oil supply
concerns.
Light, sweet crude for December delivery rose 88 cents to $91.34 a barrel in
electronic trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange by early afternoon in
Europe. It briefly rose to a new trading record of $92.22 during Asian trading.
The Nymex crude contract jumped $3.36 to settle at
$90.46 a barrel Thursday in the U.S., closing above $90 a barrel for the first
time.
"With oil taking the $90 hurdle, a price of $100 seems more and more
likely, if only for speculative reasons," Commerzbank
commodity analyst Eugen Weinberg told Dow Jones
Newswires.
December Brent crude rose 97 cents to $88.45 a barrel on the ICE futures
exchange in London, down from an earlier high of $89.30.
"The market is really quite worried about supply," said Tetsu Emori, commodity markets
fund manager at ASTMAX Futures Co. in Tokyo. "Oil is quite imbalanced. It
is quite tight."
The combination of supply worries and geopolitical concerns has pushed crude
oil prices up more than 7 percent since Tuesday.
Prices first jumped sharply Wednesday after the Energy Information Administration
reported that oil inventories fell 5.3 million barrels last week when analysts
had expected them to grow 300,000 barrels.
That report reversed a three-day downward price trend, and put energy traders
back in a bullish mood, analysts said.
On Thursday, Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries Secretary General Abdalla el-Badri told The Wall
Street Journal Asia the cartel is not in discussions to boost production by
500,000 barrels. The comments counter rumors that Saudi Arabia is pushing for
another production increase after pressuring the group into one of similar size
that goes into effect Nov. 1.
While U.S. crude stocks fell to a nine-month low last week, Dow Jones reported
that Oil Movements, a company that tracks oil tanker traffic, said the extra
crude shipments from OPEC members next month will grow more slowly than
anticipated.
Energy traders also remain concerned a threatened incursion by Turkish armed
forces into Iraq in search of Kurdish rebels would cut oil supplies out of
northern Iraq. Turkey has warned it will decide whether to cross into Iraq in
pursuit of Kurdish guerrillas regardless of U.S. objections, and U.S.-made
Turkish fighter jets patrol the skies near the Iraqi border.
Turkish artillery has been periodically firing across the border, and Turkish
television showed video of smoke rising from three villages in northern Iraq
that were purportedly hit by shells Thursday.
Lebanese troops fired on Israeli warplanes Thursday, and while a conflict
between Israel and Lebanon would not directly affect oil supplies, traders
worry that any hostilities in the Middle East would draw in oil producers such
as Saudi Arabia and Iran.
On Friday, gunmen in speedboats attacked an oil vessel off the coast of Nigeria
at dawn and kidnapped six workers, Italian energy giant Eni
SpA said.
Traders were also watching storms form near the Gulf of Mexico, where there are
major oil operations.
"In this edgy market, we would still point to a tropical disturbance over
the Virgin Islands which has ... some potential to
become a Tropical Depression and could veer toward the (Gulf)," said
Olivier Jakob from Switzerland's Petromatrix.
"We would not qualify it yet as a threat to oil assets but ... we will pay
attention to any upgrade on that disturbance."
Nymex heating oil futures rose 1.36 cents to $2.4220
a gallon (3.8 liters) while gasoline prices added 0.72 cents to $2.2430 a
gallon. November natural gas futures fell 1.6 cents to $7.172 per 1,000 cubic
feet.

Neo-Nazi Support for Ron Paul
The Lone Star Times has revealed that the Ron Paul campaign has received at
least one contribution from neo-Nazi leader Don Black, who heads an
internet-based group called Stormfront. (Read the
Lone Star Times piece here)
I've been looking at neo-Nazi support for Ron Paul and found that there's quite
a bit. It seems that one of Rep. Paul's top internet organizers in Tennessee is
a neo-Nazi leader named Will Williams (aka "White Will"). Williams
was the southern coordinator for William Pierce's National Alliance Party, the
largest neo-Nazi party in the U.S. (for Williams' connection see "Beyond A
Dead Man’s Deeds: The National Alliance After William Pierce", page 7 [pdf], for general info on the National Alliance Party, read
here) For those fortunate enough not to know, Pierce was the author of The
Turner Diaries, the bible of American neo-Nazis and inspiration for this
country's worst case of home-grown terrorism, the Oklahoma City bombing (read
here).
Williams claims to have spent 30 years as a racist activist, and reportedly was
personally responsible for providing security services to William Pierce.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, in 1993, Williams targeted
children for recruitment to the National Alliance, authoring and distributing a
racist comic book called "The Saga of ... WHITE WILL" which featured
a violent attack by the hero against a Jewish youngster (read here). In 1998,
Williams organized what he advertised as a "European Culture
Festival" in Cleveland, featuring Irish and Slavic folk music and dancers.
Attendees found themselves at a "white power" rally with speeches by
William Pierce, Tom Metzger, founder of White Aryan Resistence
("WAR") and other racist leaders (read here). In December 2000, he
spoke to a younger racist audience at a concert of racist rock bands organized
by the National Alliance and Erich Gliebe's
Resistance Records in California. (read here and here)
[Gliebe, Pierce's personally chosen successor to lead
the National Alliance, specializes in the recruitment of young people. He is
perhaps the world's leading promoter of racist rock music and computer games,
and is one of the chief promoters of the racist girl group Prussian Blue. (read here)] In March, 2001,
Williams participated in a racist anti-immigration rally on the steps of the
Hall County, Ga. courthouse, along with his friend and National Alliance Party
associate, Chester Doles, listed variously as former Grand Dragon and Former
Imperial Wizard of the KKK (read here and here and here) .
In July, 2001, Williams participated in a violent rally at the German embassy
in Washington, D.C. in support of German neo-Nazis (read here).
Williams now spends less time recruiting young people to be Nazis via comic
books and rock music, and more time recruiting them to support Ron Paul via
several meetup groups in Tennessee (read here),
although he may be using these meetups to do both. He
also posts anti-Semitic messages on Ron Paul message boards (read here),
sometimes eliciting requests that he keep his neo-Nazi views quiet while
continuing to organize for Paul, or in one case a joke concerning remaining
"non-interventionist" with respect to William's ravings (read here).
"White Will" Williams has also been actively campaigning for Ron Paul
via racist websites as noted here, on the Huffington Post. (That piece, titled
"To His Dismay, Ron Paul Becoming Magnet For
White Supremacists", was a whitewash of the racist connections of the Paul
campaign, ignoring Williams role as an internet organizer for Paul.)
Other National Alliance Party leaders or former leaders are actively promoting
the Ron Paul campaign on neo-Nazi websites. One such is Ron Doggett, currently
of a group called Viginia EURO, a local branch of a
national group started by David Duke (read here and here, photos here [CAUTION:
Hate-group site]). (Pro-Paul forum postings by Dogget
here [CAUTION: Hate-group site]) Here's what Doggett posted on one racist
website:
Getting his name out there and showing support is important in
any campaign. Everyone should do their part, getting those yard signs like
Glenn suggested is one small way to help. I've got a Ron Paul for Pres. sign for the world to see at the base of my flag pole, the
pole has a 4x6 Confederate flag atop it. Ron Paul bumper stickers on our cars
and I wear my Ron Paul t-shirt anytime we go out to places with a lot of folks.
A good number of my neighbors who know about my politics have asked me about
Paul and have said they'd vote for him in the primary know that they know he's
a good one.
Directly above this post was one authored by a user calling himself "BurnJewBurn". This user's
slogan, appearing on everything he posts, reads "nothing says lovin' like a jew
in the oven".
For those with the stomach to read more of that sort of material, here, with my
warning, is the "Ron Paul Internet Army" forum of a neo-Nazi website

Racist podcaster Hal Turner has recently taken a break from issuing death
threats to politicians in order to endorse Ron Paul. And then there's David
Duke himself, who's devoted webpage after webpage to material supportive of the
Paul campaign, without formally endorsing Paul. You could say that's soft money
from the hard right.
The Ron Paul campaign disavows racism, of course, but for some reason, they
can't keep the racists away. Maybe it has something to do with Rep. Paul's
seeming opposition to all federal civil rights laws. Or his vote against
providing funding to re-open investigations of murdered of civil rights
workers. His racist comments about fleet-footed black muggers (or, as Paul has
claimed, the comments he first defended, then took several years to realize he
hadn't made and disavowed) haven't hurt, nor has his association with the John
Birch Society, acceptance of support from the Christian Identity movement and
advocacy for conspiracy theories. His isolationism, anti-immigrant rhetoric,
and disdain for Israel and its supporters just might help explain his appeal to
racists.
Maybe the racists' support for Paul has something to do with his advocacy of
states' rights, which he frequently mischaracterizes as individual rights. He
apparently appeals to a constituency which has forgotten the horror of what
states' rights meant to non-white individuals in many states. As should be
clear by now, Paul also appeals to some who DO remember and support a return to
segregation and the other forms of racial oppression justified in the name of
states' rights.
Let's remember that Rep. Paul voted against renewing the Voting Rights Act. He
had the nerve to state in a speech to Congress that relations between the races
have improved despite, not because of, civil rights laws. (read
here) He also made the following statement in a speech he gave to Congress in
opposition of a bill to commemorate the 1964 Civil Rights Act:
"(T)he forced integration dictated
by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 increased racial tensions while diminishing
individual liberty...The Civil Rights Act of 1964 gave the federal government
unprecedented power over the hiring, employee relations, and customer service
practices of every business in the country. The result was a massive violation
of the rights of private property and contract, which are the bedrocks of free
society. The federal government has no legitimate authority to infringe on the
rights of private property owners to use their property as they please and to
form (or not form) contracts with terms mutually agreeable to all
parties."
In other words, Paul values the right to discriminate more than the right not be discriminated against. What a sorry state of affairs that
this disgraceful conduct can still occur in our Congress over forty years after
the first major civil rights legislation passed. This outrage is compounded
when Rep. Paul portrays himself as a champion of the Constitution, and this
message is promoted by the ignorant and ignored by the indifferent.
So while I blame the racists and neo-Nazis for being who they are, I am more
concerned by those who should know the history of civil rights but still allow
Paul to spread his deceptions. He does not belong among the top candidates in a
major party and his candidacy gives a boost to an otherwise declining racist
movement in this country.

Across America, the picture is critically clear — the nation's freshwater
supplies can no longer quench its thirst.
The government projects that at least 36 states will face water shortages
within five years because of a combination of rising temperatures, drought, population growth, urban sprawl, waste and excess.
"Is it a crisis? If we don't do some decent water planning, it could
be," said Jack Hoffbuhr, executive director of
the Denver-based American Water Works Association.
Water managers will need to take bold steps to keep taps flowing, including
conservation, recycling, desalination and stricter controls on development.
"We've hit a remarkable moment," said Barry Nelson, a senior policy
analyst with the Natural Resources Defense Council. "The last century was
the century of water engineering. The next century is going to have to be the
century of water efficiency."
The price tag for ensuring a reliable water supply could be staggering. Experts
estimate that just upgrading pipes to handle new supplies could cost the nation
$300 billion over 30 years.
"Unfortunately, there's just not going to be any more cheap water,"
said Randy Brown, Pompano Beach's utilities director.
It's not just America's problem — it's global.
Australia is in the midst of a 30-year dry spell, and population growth in
urban centers of sub-Saharan Africa is straining resources. Asia has 60 percent
of the world's population, but only about 30 percent of its
freshwater.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations network of
scientists, said this year that by 2050 up to 2 billion people worldwide could
be facing major water shortages.
The U.S. used more than 148 trillion gallons of water in 2000, the latest
figures available from the U.S. Geological Survey. That includes residential,
commercial, agriculture, manufacturing and every other use — almost 500,000
gallons per person.
Coastal states like Florida and California face a water crisis not only from
increased demand, but also from rising temperatures that are causing glaciers
to melt and sea levels to rise. Higher temperatures mean more water lost to
evaporation. And rising seas could push saltwater into underground sources of
freshwater.
Florida represents perhaps the nation's greatest water irony. A hundred years
ago, the state's biggest problem was it had too much water. But decades of
dikes, dams and water diversions have turned swamps into cities.
Little land is left to store water during wet seasons, and so much of the
landscape has been paved over that water can no longer penetrate the ground in
some places to recharge aquifers. As a result, the state is forced to flush
millions of gallons of excess into the ocean to prevent flooding.
Also, the state dumps hundreds of billions of gallons a year of treated
wastewater into the Atlantic through pipes — water that could otherwise be used
for irrigation.
Florida's environmental chief, Michael Sole, is seeking legislative action to
get municipalities to reuse the wastewater.
"As these communities grow, instead of developing new water with new
treatment systems, why not better manage the commodity they already have and
produce an environmental benefit at the same time?" Sole said.
Florida leads the nation in water reuse by reclaiming some 240 billion gallons
annually, but it is not nearly enough, Sole said.
Floridians use about 2.4 trillion gallons of water a year. The state projects
that by 2025, the population will have increased 34 percent from about 18
million to more than 24 million people, pushing annual demand for water to
nearly 3.3 trillion gallons.
More than half of the state's expected population boom is projected in a
three-county area that includes Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, where
water use is already about 1.5 trillion gallons a year.
"We just passed a crossroads. The chief water sources are basically
gone," said John Mulliken, director of water
supply for the South Florida Water Management District. "We really are at
a critical moment in Florida history."
In addition to recycling and conservation, technology holds promise.
There are more than 1,000 desalination plants in the U.S., many in the Sunbelt,
where baby boomers are retiring at a dizzying rate.
The Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Plant is producing about 25 million gallons
a day of fresh drinking water, about 10 percent of that area's demand. The $158
million facility is North America's largest plant of its kind. Miami-Dade
County is working with the city of Hialeah to build a reverse osmosis plant to
remove salt from water in deep brackish wells. Smaller such plants are in
operation across the state.
Californians use nearly 23 trillion gallons of water a year, much of it coming
from Sierra Nevada snowmelt. But climate change is producing less snowpack and
causing it to melt prematurely, jeopardizing future supplies.
Experts also say the Colorado River, which provides freshwater to seven Western
states, will probably provide less water in coming years as global warming
shrinks its flow.
California, like many other states, is pushing conservation as the cheapest
alternative, looking to increase its supply of treated wastewater for
irrigation and studying desalination, which the state hopes could eventually
provide 20 percent of its freshwater.
"The need to reduce water waste and inefficiency is greater now than ever
before," said Benjamin Grumbles, assistant administrator for water at the
Environmental Protection Agency. "Water efficiency is the wave of the
future."

I think the best thing racists can do at this time is operate on an independent

TOKYO - An encounter between German Neo-Nazis and a mixed-race boy with an Afro
wouldn’t usually seem to be a laughing matter, but it is in the new film
“Leroy.”
While Nazism has been a common topic for many serious dramas, German director
Armin Voelckers has taken a different approach —
raising the issue through a romantic comedy.
The director said he was relieved to hear cheers and clapping from the audience
as his debut film was screened as one of the works in competition at the Tokyo
International Film Festival.
“I was scared,” Voelckers admitted afterwards. “Humour doesn’t always persuade, and in most cases it fails
miserably.”
Xenophobia and racism were not easy topics to have a good laugh about for Voelckers and his German crew, all of whom were making
their first movie.
But optimism is also the approach of the title character played by Alain Morel,
a 17-year-old child of a white mother from the Green Party and an inventor
father of African origin.
Sporting a giant Afro, Leroy grew up freely choosing his likes and dislikes. He
enjoys playing the cello, but rebuffs the romantic advances of a white foreign
girl to whom he teaches German.
But it all gets more complicated when he sees a beautiful blonde girl, Eva, on
the street and falls madly in love.
Eva may be an open-hearted sweetie, but Leroy soon finds out that her five
brothers are all skinheads.
When Eva forces her brothers to greet her new boyfriend, they spew out insults
like, “Go back to the jungle.”
Voelckers, who also wrote the screenplay, succeeded
in making such scenes funny by looking at the situation from the optimistic
eyes of Leroy.
“It was me. He has many things that I have, too,” Voelckers
said of the title character. “He is optimistic but he feels that there’s
something wrong about his optimism.”
Voelckers was born 1963 in what was then West Germany
and grew up in Rio de Janeiro. Returning as an adolescent, he said he also
struggled over whether it was right to be optimistic about life in post-war
Germany.
Leroy wades through the cultural stereotypes, curiously stepping into a Black
Panther office where he discovers soul music, Malcolm X and “Shaft.”
But with support of everyone from his father to a gay Jew, Leroy finds his own
way of reconciliation with the neo-Nazis, instead of conflict.
Integration of minority communities remains a sensitive issue in Germany, where
some 15 million people or roughly 18 percent of the country is of foreign
origin.
“This is the first time that in a German film you have an Afro-German, a black
German, playing the main character,” one of the producers, Oliver Stoltz, said. “It is the first film making fun of
neo-Nazis.”
Voelckers said, “We Germans have an intellectual
approach to the Nazi era, but very rarely an emotional approach.”
“Emotional stories are usually the stories like about Jews or murder in the
concentration camps,” he said. “Germans don’t allow themselves very emotional
memories about that time.
“So when you make jokes about that, it can come out really wrong,” he said.
“Leroy” is one of 15 films in competition for the top prize of the 20th Tokyo
International Film Festival, which runs until Sunday.
Yoshi Yatabe, programming
division director of the film festival, recommended “Leroy” for the competition
from more than 500 submitted films.
He said the movie could offer interesting insight to audiences in Japan, which
also has memories over its World War II atrocities.
Unlike Germany, Japan has rejected any large-scale immigration, although it has
its own minority communities, most notably Koreans.
“We also have discrimination in Japanese society,” he said. ”It’s often thought
to be taboo and not talked about openly.”
“For him to describe it in a comedy shows that Germany is one step ahead of
Japan.”

A few thoughts about 2008 politics (and I'm not
saying these things as specifically 'you, but a 'royal you' meaning to the
masses that are asses)....Exercise your freedom not to vote. Or vote third
party. Don't give legitimacy to this corrupt, fat, incompetent government of
ours brought by Halliburton, AT&T, Walmart, Worldcomm, and all the other fortune 500 companies. What is
best for business isn't necessarily best for the country. We have the best
government money can buy...not a good thing. There is no honor anymore, only
profits...all that matters is profits...and what is good for the profit is the
greatest virtue, and what is bad for the profit is the greatest sin.
We are being runned by the merchant class, the monied or business class, with their own set of virtues and
values. Unfortunately, money is the root of all evil and corruption most of the
time...It's time we are ruled by a different class who's values and virtues are
not revolved around the allmighty dollar, which is falling
ever so quickly. Where is the warrior class? Where is, what Plato has
mentioned, the philosopher kings? Where is the meritocracy (rulers by merit),
not the oligarchy (rulers by money)?
I vote not to vote. Why should I settle for the "lesser evil" candidate?
The federal government is now totally controlled by the oligarches
and trans-national corporations. They are committed to making the CEO's of
fortune 500 companies rich, super rich, mega-rich, while the working and middle
class gets taxed and squeezed, and the poor multiply...the rich are reveling
and smiling and drooling, rubbing their hands in their looting, raping, and
plundering...while our manufacturing jobs, our factories, our products have
moved to the third world, while the federal government refuses to enforce our
immigration laws and policies, creating an illiterate, uneducated, mostly south
of the border class and culture who aren't very interested as such as becoming
American, mastering it's language and history, but rather interested in being
parasites, getting what they can, and siphoning as much as they can back to
their home countries, while our health care is such nobody can afford it, and alot of people are afraid to use it, whilethe
working class are getting taxed more and more, making less and less, while the
cost of living increases and increases, quality of life gets lousier and
lousier, population increases to a point where nothing is manageable and the
thousands of other problems that brings, and all the other problems I neglected
to mention that plague America, it's working people, and it's middle class.
It doesn't matter if Hillary, Obama mamma, Ron Paul, Gulliani, or Hitler becomes president,
they are not the one's that truly run things. They will be taken out in a
heartbeat if they tow any line that affects the golden rule, Thou shalt make the mightiest Profits! All else shall be
declared evil, terrorism, racist, horrible, and whatever worst word we can
think of! Dictatorship of the corporation!
Like the country, the politicians are up for sale to the highest bidders, quite
literally...the politician who wins is the politician with the most money. And
that's the fact Jack...
So when the country goes down the tubes, or rather I should say, while the
government (and America and everything which made this country great and unique
from the third world) is going down the tubes, I can at least say I didn't vote
for any of the republicats (democratic/republican)

100,000 years into the future, sexual selection could mean that two distinct
breeds of human will have developed.
The alarming prediction comes from evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry from the
London School of Economics, who says that the human race will have reached its
physical peak by the year 3000.
These humans will be between 6ft and 7ft tall and they will live up to 120
years.
"Physical features will be driven by indicators of health, youth and
fertility that men and women have evolved to look for in potential mates,"
says the report, which suggests that advances in cosmetic surgery and other
body modifying techniques will effectively homogenise
our appearance.
Men will have symmetrical facial features, deeper voices and bigger penises,
according to Curry in a report commissioned for men's satellite TV channel
Bravo.
Women will all have glossy hair, smooth hairless skin, large eyes and pert
breasts, according to Curry.
Racial differences will be a thing of the past as interbreeding produces a
single coffee-coloured skin tone.
The future for our descendants isn't all long life, perfect bodies and chiselled features, however.
While humans will reach their peak in 1000 years' time, 10,000 years later our
reliance on technology will have begun to dramatically change our appearance.
Medicine will weaken our immune system and we will begin to appear more
child-like.
Dr Curry said: "The report suggests that the future of man will be a story
of the good, the bad and the ugly.
"While science and technology have the potential to create an ideal
habitat for humanity over the next millennium, there is the possibility of a
monumental genetic hangover over the subsequent millennia due to an
over-reliance on technology reducing our natural capacity to resist disease, or
our evolved ability to get along with each other.
"After that, things could get ugly, with the possible emergence of genetic
'haves' and 'have-nots'."
Dr Curry's theory may strike a chord with readers who have read H G Wells'
classic novel The Time Machine, in particular his descriptions of the Eloi and the Morlock races.
In the 1895 book, the human race has evolved into two distinct species, the
highly intelligent and wealthy Eloi and the
frightening, animalistic Morlock who are destined to
work underground to keep the Eloi happy.

FROM A PORTLAND BLOGGER
I read a book this week entitled A Hundred Little Hitlers
by Elinor Langer. I have been looking for books about
the history of race relations in Portland and this is one of the only sources I
could find on the subject. The central story is about the beating and murdering
of an Ethiopian man by a group of skinheads in the late 1980s. I had briefly
heard bits about this event somehow or another, but I was shocked to find out
that the murder happened literally one block away from my house. The book also
attempts to provide a history of the uprising of the Neo-Nazi movement, with
Tom Metzger as the main character in that story. Metzger is a name I remember
hearing growing up because the headquarters of White Aryan Resistance(WAR)/his
house was located in Fallbrook, CA where my parents actually currently live.
The other main piece of this whole story is that of the history of racism in
Portland since its existence as a city. Initial laws basically banned African
Americans from residing in the state. Then a low-income community called Vanport came into existence during the shipping boom, but
that community dissipated due to a flood and whatever blacks were left moved
into NE Portland. The most shocking piece of information to me was that the
state of Oregon did not even ratify the 15th Amendment (the one that lets any
male citizen vote regardless of race) until 1959. And actually due to a wikipedia search, I was even more surprised to find out
that Oregon wasn't even the last state to ratify the 15th
amendment...California, Maryland, Kentucky, and Tennessee all ratified after
1959...Tennessee didn't until 1997!
The case and the histories were all very interesting, but I think the overall
point of the book was that after the constituents of Portland and Oregon got
their symbolic victory over their history of racism...it really was mostly
symbolic. The family of Seraw (the man who was
murdered) was awarded 12.5 million dollars but only a fraction of that money
would ever make it to the family. Metzger was made to sell his house, but other
than that there wasn't much in the way of assets. Even the money that he would
receive from supporters of WAR was often just diverted to another more
anonymous PO Box. The organization that served as the
prosecution for the case, profitted immensely by
increased recognition and notoriety and therefore an increase in donations.
Metzger is still able to conduct racist propaganda, meetings, and lectures and
essentially hold on to his power withing the White
Supremacy movement due to the First Amendment. And the Northwest, even
specifically Portland, still maintains a reputation for skinhead activity and
for many within the movement the Northwest still represents the "white
American bastion."

German memorials should not compare Nazi crimes and communist injustices,
