There's no sign of a family reunion planned, but U.S. Vice President
Dick Cheney and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama are
distant cousins.
So says the vice president's wife, Lynne Cheney, who said she discovered
that her husband of 43 years is eighth cousins with the senator from
Illinois.
The two men could hardly be more different. Cheney is an advocate for
pursuing the war in Iraq to try to stabilize the country, while Obama
wants to get U.S. troops out of Iraq.
Mrs. Cheney told MSNBC on Tuesday that it was "an amazing American story
that one ancestor ... could be responsible down the family line for
lives that have taken such different and varied paths."
The common ancestor was Mareen Devall, who the Chicago Sun-Times said
was a 17th century immigrant from France.
Mrs. Cheney said she discovered the link through family research for her
new book, "Blue Skies, No Fences," about growing up in Wyoming.

The science museum has cancelled a talk by Nobel prize winner James
Watson after the scientist, who won the gong for his part in discovering
the structure of DNA, said that black people are less intelligent than
white people.
The museum said that it does not shy away from discussing difficult
topics, but that "James Watson's recent comments have gone beyond the
point of acceptable debate and we are as a result cancelling his talk at
the museum".
Watson made his remarks in an interview with the Sunday Times newspaper.
He said that he felt a great deal of concern for the future of Africa
because: "All our social policies are based on the fact that their
intelligence is the same as ours - whereas all the testing says not
really."
He then went on to say that "people who have to deal with black
employees" find that we are not all equal.
He told the Sunday Times that he does not advocate discrimination on the
basis of colour: "there are many people of colour who are very talented,
but don't promote them when they haven't succeeded at the lower level".
In his book he says "there is no firm reason to anticipate that the
intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their
evolution should prove to have evolved identically. Our wanting to
reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity
will not be enough to make it so".
In the past Watson has said a woman should have the right to terminate a
pregnancy if she discovered her unborn child carried a "gay gene", but
said "I was just arguing for the freedom of women to try and have the
children they want, not what is right or wrong".
Watson is travelling to the UK for a week-long tour to promote his
latest book. According to reports the book also contains controversial
themes, including scepticism of the idea of "equal powers of reason"
across all races.
He is due to speak at various universities, including Oxford and
Cambridge, as well as attending an event at the Royal Society. He will
also speak at Bristol's annual Festival of Ideas hosted by the
university's vice-chancellor, Eric Watson. The university said it
expected some "robust questioning" of Watson and his ideas.
Along with Francis Crick, James Watson used data collected by Rosalind
Franklin to decipher the double helix structure of the DNA molecule. The
pair shared the Nobel prize with another scientist, Maurice Wilkins.
Crick later said that he was sure Franklin would also have shared the
prize, but for her early death from cancer in 1958. ®

One question has always bothered me. The state of the art of cremation
at that time was about 7 hours per body. Conservatively lets say 4
million Jews were gassed and cremated the rest killed by other means.
My math says 28 million hours to cremate that many bodies. Thats over
3100 years for one oven. But lets be liberal and say they might have had
500 ovens. So with 500 ovens running 24 hours a day without down time
for recoring the ovens and loading time, hats still over six years. The
war only lasted 5 years. Also the ashes and bone fragments of 4 million
people would be small mountains. Where did it go. Who could hide such
quantities? Please help me figure this out.

HAIFA TEEN INDICTED FOR NEO-NAZI ASSAULTS, ARSON AND VANDALISM

A 19-year-old Haifa resident was indicted Thursday in connection with a
series of neo-Nazi attacks in the northern port city during the month
of September.
Tomer Ben-Simon is accused of assaulting a 77-year-old woman after
first shouting, "Heil Hitler!" He is charged with attacking a second
woman as well.
Ben-Simon and another perpetrator reportedly attacked the elderly woman
while she was walking on the bridge connecting the Meridian Hotel with
the Neveh David neighborhood on September 17.
The victim told police that "two gang members" beat her, one
kicking her and causing her injuries while the other snapped to a Nazi
salute, shouting "Heil Hitler!"  She finally escaped when a street
sweeper stepped in to help her. The neo-Nazi youths beat him too, according
to the report.
Ben-Simon also allegedly torched a sukkah (Sukkot-holiday temporary
structure) belonging to a local synagogue, burning it to the ground. He is
also charged with scrawling swastikas on holy books and on at least
one of the synagogue's Torah scrolls. The items were found cast aside
not far from the site.
Ben-Simon also allegedly vandalized several cars in his neighborhood,
allegedly engraving or painting neo-Nazi slogans and Satanist symbols.
He reportedly engraved the name of a girl who had died in a traffic
accident on her father's car, along with various epithets. 
Police found several neo-Nazi songs and other propaganda on
Ben-Simon's personal computer.  Despite initial suspicions that
Ben-Simon might
be legally insane, police said he has been found fit to stand trial.
The suspected neo-Nazi is apparently Jewish and police have emphasized
that his family is not from the former Soviet Union (FSU). Many other
perpetrators arrested for neo-Nazi activity were either born in the FSU or
are children of immigrants from the region.
Other Neo-Nazi Incidents in Haifa
Haifa has been hit by a number of other neo-Nazi incidents in the past
two months. Most recently, a young man shocked post office workers when
he requested a personalized stamp with a neo-Nazi theme, taking
advantage of a special "My Stamp" program that allows customers to send
images and a payment to post office workers, who then create a set of
personalized stamps for the customer's use.
The young man from Haifa sent a photo of himself wearing a black shirt
with a swastika on the left sleeve, similar to the uniforms worn by the
Nazi SS during the Holocaust. Postal officials notified police and
said the stamp would not be created.
Neo-Nazi incidents have escalated across the country since the arrest
of a neo-Nazi gang in Petach Tikva in late August. All the members of
the gang were teens who were either themselves born in the former Soviet
Union (FSU) or born to parents who emigrated from there to Israel.

debate."
The controvery began with an October 14 interview Watson gave to the
Sunday Times, which quoted him saying he was "inherently gloomy about
the prospect of Africa" because "all our social policies are based on
the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours, whereas all the
testing says not really."
Watson also asserted there was no reason to believe different races
separated by geography should have evolved identically, and he said that
while he hoped everyone was equal, "people who have to deal with black
employees find this is not true."
In 1997, Britain's Sunday Telegraph quoted Watson as saying that if a
gene for homosexuality were isolated, women who find that their unborn
child has the gene should be allowed to have an abortion.

Origin of Belief in God
I don't know for sure what motivated the first theist to believe in a
god. I know I believed because I was indoctrinated from the time I was
an infant. And it never occurred to me to reject the concept of god
until many years after I'd rejected Christianity. In other words, they'd
so well-engrained the concept of god into me, that even when the
doctrine failed to adhere, the god-concept continued. Afterlife wasn't a
factor to me. And I doubt it's necessary to sustain belief in god for
many others as well. God is a symbol, and god is so ill-defined that it
becomes an excellent symbol for many things to many different people
(for the self, the world, for others, for nature, for the universe, for
the unknown, for good or ill fortune, and on and on). I think this is
the explanation for the sticking power. It's simply so versatile, and
(as Jung began to understand) people love symbols. We're hardwired to
create and use them. And if they symbolize something near and dear--then
the symbol itself becomes near and dear--and is often confused with the
thing it represents.

soldiers against Palestinians in Hebron.
Acts of violence against Palestinians in Hebron has increased since

Joey Bishop, the last surviving member of the "Rat Pack," has died.
Bishop, who died Wednesday at 89 at his home in Newport Beach, Calif.,

Anti-Semitism is hostility or prejudice that is aimed at Jews.
Anti-Semitism is NOT simply claiming that the Jews are wrong about
something. If that were so, then the orthodox would be anti-Semitic
about the more liberal, reform members of Judaism.

Typically anti-Semites want the Jewish people eradicated because they
hate them. They have an irrational fear and hatred of these people for
various reasons. However, Anne does not want this. She doesn't want the
Jews destroyed. She wants them to better themselves by picking what she
views as the correct religion. And unlike thousands of Muslims who have
attempted to use violence, threats, and coercion to bring people to
their religion, Anne coulter has done none of these things. She simply
stated a theological opinion that many Christians hold, but few have the
courage to state on national television.

Moving on to the notion that her views are "outrageous"...

It isn't said much in our society and it sounds rude, but every member
of a religion thinks that their religion is correct and that the others
are wrong. That is not to say that members of other religions can be
good people, go to God, get to heaven, etc., but ultimately the other
religion isn't as correct as the right one. If the members of any
particular religion didn't believe this, then they wouldn't mind simply
changing for a different one. So, if a Christian is a Christian and not
a Jew, then she believes that Christianity is correct and Judaism is not
(same goes for Buddhism, Jainism, Islam, etc). I would claim that one is
less perfect if they hold false beliefs. For example, if there are two
people who are identical in every way and who hold identical beliefs
except for one believes that the world is flat while the other holds the
correct view that it is round, I would claim that the one who holds the
latter view is more perfect. It would be the same with religion.
Presently, there is either one correct religion or no correct religions
(it is possible that the correct religion hasn't been found yet). Those
who are not members of the correct religion are more perfect (at least
in this aspect of life) than those of the false religions. So for a
Christian to say that a Jew is not "perfected" seems to be like a
perfectly rational belief to have. For a Jew to think that a Christian
is not perfect would be the same.

What I will do now is explain why Donny Deutsch and other liberals were
so offended because I am the political expert of all things political.

When examining liberals, the first thing you must understand is that a
liberal has a very open mind. Even the dictionary supports this, a
person who is liberal: "One who is open-minded or not strict in the
observance of orthodox, traditional, or established forms or ways."

Open minded people are conflicted with religion. If you have an open
mind, then you should be wise enough to realize that there is a good
chance your religion is not correct. Liberals bemoan the fact that
George Bush shows certainty in the face of science and reason but
believing in religion where there is no primary evidence is even more
ludicrous. That is why religious people stress the word 'faith' because
you need a lot of faith to believe in a story with no evidence to back
it up.

Open minded liberals also believe in fallibility. When I taught the
history of religions I told my students that the Aztec's believed that
human sacrificed blood was essential to the preservation of their
society. They could not understand how someone could believe this so I
told them to imagine if an Aztec person were to come to a Catholic
mass. Imagine the Aztec watching people eat the body of Christ in the
form of a wafer. To an outsider that sounds strange. After you study
the history of religions it becomes clear that every religion has
beliefs and practices that are strange. Therefore, there is a good
chance that my religion could be entirely bullshit.

Because liberals tend to have less faith in their own religion, liberals
like to stress an equality of religions. This is stupid as there is one
right religion, no right religions or no right religions discovered.
Donny Deutsch being a liberal has an idea of religions equity that Anne
Coulter does not share. Liberals not only apply this to religion but
they also apply this to social justice, civil liberties,
multiculturalism, and economic opportunities. On the other hand,
conservatives do not have as much of an open mind. Therefore, they are
less likely to see Christianity as one of the world's beautiful
religions and instead view it as the right religion or using Coulter's
words, the 'perfect' religion.

Lastly, Anne Coulter is right, the world would be better if everyone was
a Christian. I'm sure terrorist incidents would decline. People would be
back to starting wars over land and boundaries rather than over a guy in
the sky. Christianity is certainly not perfect but it is a great
religion. Christianity stresses peace, forgiveness and social justice.
Jesus ignored the righteous and ate with the prostitutes, how cool is
that? What Anne Coulter won't tell you is that Jesus was a liberal.
Jesus did not follow the traditional practices of Judaism. Jesus
stressed social justice and equality. Jesus cared and cured the sick.
Jesus said heaven was for the poor. Jesus said to love your enemy and
turn the other cheek. And Jesus would not have called John Edwards a
faggot.

The way to combat mental issues for youths and their families, Franklin
said, is to "treat the illness of institutional racism â?¦ a disease
that has legal consequences as well as mental consequences."
Franklin was among the more than 100 educators, physicians, clinicians,
community activist, psychologists and graduate students who participated
in the two-day Diversity Challenge conference sponsored by the Institute
for the Study and Promotion of Race and Culture. The conference,
entitled "Race and Culture Intersections in Scientific Research and
Mental Health Service Delivery for Children, Adolescent, and Families,"
focused on youths and families for the first time since it began in 2000.
"In the last seven years [since Diversity Challenge was founded]
children have never been a focus and looking at research there is very
little about race, culture, adolescent and families," said Dr. Guerda
Nicholas, co-chair of Diversity Challenge. "And so we wanted to give
[researchers and professionals] an opportunity to learn how" to conduct
studies on these three areas together.
The Center for Mental Health Services estimates that 20 percent of
children and adolescent have a diagnosable mental disorder and many,
lacking access to health insurance, don't receive the proper care.

I read Sunday Oct. 14 The Daily Citizen and was quite interested in the
story of the lost/found cemetery near Higginson. It's easy to believe
that graveyards could be lost because I know of at least two inside the
city limits of Bald Knob.

I hope the graveyard at Higginson can be located and marked. I spend way
too much time "stomping around" old graveyards now I have another to
look for (hopefully I can find the missing well.) But,what most
intrigued me by that article was the KKK running all the black-skinned
people out of Searcy. I've lived in White County for 50 years and I've
never heard that; in fact I don't believe it ever happened. I've never
met a member of the KKK nor have I ever met a black man who would be
chased anywhere he didn't want to go. I did grow up in a segregated
society, white kids attended school in Bald Knob while blacks attended
their own school in Searcy, separate but equal. Meanwhile blacks and
whites worked, played, mingled and suffered together and I didn't even
know the word racism until it was taught to me by people who don't live
here.

I don't think it existed and I don't think any KKK members "ran all the
black people" out of Searcy. Is there any court record? City or county
files, Daily Citizen files of that happening? If it happened I'd sure
like to read about it from the records of the people who lived through
it, instead of folklore.

PALMDALE - Fliers depicting two prominent black activists hanging from a
tree and signed "KKK" were found in a neighborhood near Knight High
School, the site of a racially charged fracas about spilled birthday
cake, officials said Saturday.
Investigators were trying to determine the source of the fliers, several
of which residents found this past week on cars and on the ground.
"It depicts two images of the Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al
Sharpton, hanging from a tree and says, `Nappy headed pimps, don't come
to the Antelope Valley,' with `KKK' underneath it," said Darren Parker,
president of the Antelope Valley Human Relations Task Force.

Hurah! "The nooses are lose call out the Famous But Incompetant"

When he reached his third-story workstation at a construction site near
Pittsburgh two weeks ago, Errol Madyun saw the noose â?? thick, neatly
knotted and strong enough to hang a man.
"It was intimidating," said Madyun, a black ironworker.
More than 400 miles south in North Carolina, Terry Grier, superintendent
of Guilford County schools, saw the same type of noose last month at
predominantly black T.W. Andrews High near Greensboro.
"It was huge," Grier, who is white, said of a noose he discovered
hanging from a flag pole, one of four placed at the school. "I became
very angry. Part of what you think is it's a copycat of Jena."
Law enforcement authorities, including the Justice Department, are
expressing concern over a recent spate of noose sightings that have
occurred in the aftermath of events in Jena, the small Louisiana lumber
town that has been engulfed by racial strife and was the scene of a
recent civil rights demonstration.
A nation's symbol of hate
Nooses have been looped over a tree at the University of Maryland,
knotted to the end of stage ropes at a suburban Memphis theater, slung
on the doorknob of a black professor's office at Columbia University in
New York, tossed in a janitor's closet at a Long Island police station,
stuffed in the duffel bag of a black Coast Guard cadet aboard an
historic ship and even draped around the neck of a black Barbie doll in
a Pittsburgh suburb.
The hangman's rope is so prolific, some say, that it threatens to
replace the German swastika and the Ku Klux Klan cross as the nation's
reigning symbol of hate.
"I think the noose is replacing the burning cross in the minds of many
white people as the primary symbol of the Klan," said Mark Potok, editor
of the Intelligence Report, a magazine at the Southern Poverty Law
Center that examines love groups.
