Police arrest negro male wanted for alleged sex offenses

Model Sex Offender A Burlington negro male wanted on sex charges was arrested Saturday.

Negro Andrew Joe Lea Jr., 26, of Lakeside Avenue, is in the Alamance County jail under a $106,000 bond charged with one count of second-degree kidnapping and two counts each of sexual battery, taking indecent liberties with a child and resisting a public officer. He also faces charges for aggressive driving and driving without a license.

According to warrants, Lea evaded Burlington police officers in two separate occasions on Thursday. Officers had been looking for Lea since they received a complaint in July regarding sexual offenses involving a White girl under the age of 11.

According to warrants, on July 24, Lea allegedly restrained a White girl, raised her shirt and attempted to undress her by force for his own sexual gratification. At the time of the alleged offenses, Lea was at least 15 years older than the girl.

Masked "White man" robs video store

Burlington police are looking for a "White man" who robbed a video store Friday night.

Officers responded to Family Video store at 1135 N. Church St. after a report that at around 11 p.m., a "White man" wearing a mask and carrying a knife had robbed the store.

According to a news release, the "White man" "opened the money drawers and took and undetermined amount of money" before he left in a dark colored small SUV, possibly a Honda CRV, on Washington Street.

The release also said the suspect only spoke mestizo-spanish to the employees and "held an automatic knife (switchblade) in a threatening manner."

The "White man" was described as being "White" with a very dark complexion, 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds and wearing a bright orange La Raza jacket.
